At times, Arsenal play some of the best football in the world. This year will be better.

1) Chelsea
2) Arsenal
3) Liverpool
4) Man United (who will suffer without ronaldo and tevez)
5) Tottenham

Man City are not going to threaten the top 5 with Adebayor up front.

I dont think they will. when they show up and play their best there unbeatable but i feel they have lacked passion in the last few years. And losing one of their best strikers certainly wont help.

Man City are not going to threaten the top 5 with Adebayor up front.

They have an awesome strike force this year with tevez, santa-cruz and adebayor up front. adebayor is a quality striker. All man city need to do is sign a quality midfielder to play along side stephen ireland and keep dunne in defence and they will have a savage spine of a team

Thats my opinion anyway

For me its probably going to be

1)Manchester United
2)Chelsea
3)Liverpool
4)Arsenal

For me one of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal would need to do something very special this season to get anywhere near Manchester United; they have an amazing squad with a great mixture of mature players (Rio Ferdinand, Edwin Van Der Sar, Dimitar Berbatov) and younger, up and coming players (Wellbeck, the Da Silva twins, Mascheda) to really run away with this league again. Ronaldo was a diva, a brilliant player, but still such an ego who always seemed to have trouble staying on his feet, Man U can go further without his disruptive behaviour.

Or thats my opinion anyways :D x

I honestly believe that Man U do not have as strong as a squad this season. They had a few dodgy matches last season where they were rescued by ronaldo and tevez two very high quality players that are gone now. That being said i expect them to win the league or atleast be second. This seasoon will be a great one. There are many teams who will challange for the title including Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Spurs, Everton and Aston Villa. Any of those teams have a chance of being in the top 4 at the end of the season

See I completely disagree with that!!;)

I think that, yeah all these teams are decent with some very good players between them but I honestly do not believe that they have a full enough squad or the correct mentality to win the Premiership. For example, last season, Aston Villa were in a position to not only finish in the top 4 but to possibly win the league, however they hit a bad run of form and they blew their chance -this could also be true for their performances in Europe when Martin O'Neill decided to show a second string side. I am a huge Martin supporter and hope him all the luck in the world but I cannot see his or any other team manage to break in. Teams like the Big 4 have that funny knack of winning games even when they are down and almost out, a freakish bauble, a poor decision a la Manchester Untd against Tottenham last season and they come back and take all 3 points, thats just how it is, fair or not. Therefore I think it will definitely stay with the current big 4, with Man U to win:)

But what about Man City taking Arsenals place. I agree that manu chelsea and liverpool wont be moved from the top 4 but arsenal is another story. i dont feel they have the quality anymore, and city have a great strike force this season and i think they will be hard to beat

I think that eventhough arsenal are not the team they are from 5 or so years ago but I still that they will pose a great enough threat to finish in the top 4. Arsenal still have some very high quality players such as wilshere, walcott, eduardo and fabregas who will make them strong and a threat in front of goal. Arsenal normally have a pretty solid defence, yes they have lost some key players in the back but it is nothing tha wenger has never had to deal with before.
Manchester city on the other hand have bought some very good strikers however it will take them a few games to gel and anyway they can't play all these strikers at once, cAusing a few of these big egos to become more and more annoyed. Arsenal has manager which knows the club, the players and the mentality while ciy has Hughes whose coat is on a very shoogly peg. Hughes isn't the one choosing these players to buy or which ones to play, and that never ends well.

Mark Hughes has a good record in the premiership with the teams he has had. I believe that anybody who alex ferguson wants to replace them will have a chance of taking any team to the top 4 in the premiership and with the 'unlimited funds' that they have for transfers i fear that it will become another chelsea. A new manager every few months, new players like a revolving door and yet they still manage to win the league. I feel that they wil be in atleast the top 6 this season and i wouldnt be suprised if they take 4th spot and if it would be anybodys it would be arsenals spot

Who do you think will get relegated this year? Here is who I think are the contenders.

Portsmouth - Unless they get their arab owners, they will have to sell key players and will then struggle.

Hull - Only just survived and completely collapsed in the second half of the season. If they don't have a good start like last time, they could be another Derby County.

Burnley
Birmingham
Wolves

These 3 are the new Premiership teams. Although some teams manage to stay up, I don't think these teams will be involved with anything but a relegation battle.

Wouldn't it be brilliant if Man City got relegated...:D

Mr. Awesome
August 6th, 2009, 10:12 PM
I fancy Wolves, Stoke and Burnley to be relegated.

The only way i see portsmouth going down is if they get deducted points due to their bad financial situation ie. administration

Birmingham i think have always been a good team and had a long stint in the premiership, however i will admit that i do not know much about them.

So my guess for relegation would be as above but i wouldnt dismiss a straight drop for the promoted teams

I can only see the 3 who came up going straight back down again :(

Hopefully Wigan can get into Europe :)

As an Arsenal fan, a fantastic opening day of the season. 6-1 away win :D:yeah: How can anyone say Arsenal will struggle without Adebayor and Toure? We've got some brilliant replacements and catch us if you can.

A great first day! I'd settle for the table to stay as it is (as if :) ). Good win for Wigan today, 2-0 against Villa.

Arsenal did well. It was funny to see Everton lose like that, a lot of my mates are toffees fans :D

Well guys and girls what an opening day to the season.

Who would of imagined the action packed day of football with a last minute winner at chelsea (jammy basterds), A thrashing of everton by arsenal (which i enjoyed for obvious reasons), Villa losing to wigan (Shock Result), Man City hitting a good run of form after pre season with a 2 nil win over Blackburn, and the the rest of the results blah blah blah dosnt matter 2nd have finishers at end of season.

These results especially Arsenal and to a lesser extent Man City lead the way to good european spot battle among the top teams in the premier league.

Lets hope Liverpool do the same tomorrow and win away like 6 of the 8 games finished today

The results in full
Chelsea 2 Hull City 1
Aston Villa 0 Wigan 2
Blackburn 0 Man City 2
Bolton 0 Sunderland 1
Portsmouth 0 Fulham 1
Stoke 2 Burnley 0
Wolves 0 West Ham 2
Everton 1 Arsenal 6

Sunday's results

Tittenham 2 Liverpool 1 ( look on the bright side, Everton are bottom)
Madchester Utd 1 Birmingham 0 (another fluke)

I know this isn't Premiership but has anyone seen the goal that bounced out of the net in the Bristol City vs Crystal Palace game and the referee didn't give it? Neil Warnock was furious.

Yeah, he was really moaning on Goals on Sunday this morning.

It was clearly a goal though, but they still won't use goal line technology.

Liverpool were really struggleing in midfield today. they really miss alonso in midfield who set up gerrard to lead an attack. we have a serious lack of debt in the team with the subs on the bench today (ayala, spearing, kelly). on the brighter side yossi seemed to make an impact when he came on. hopoefully he will start more games in the future.

I didnt see the united game. im not suprised by the results today. i didnt expect liverpool to win (was hoping for a draw) and god help us if torres gets injured. we really need to be taken over by a billionaire (DIC). United again keep a clean sheet, there notorious for doing it. there a team i love to hate but unfortunatly i cannot complain about them winning and keeping a clean sheet, (all i can do is hope they go on a losing streak right to the championship<rant over>)

Goal Line technology will ruinthe sport of football. the controversy of things like this is what makes football interesting. if it is introduced then they will eventually have a video playback of tackles and penalty decisions, it will RUIN the game. I hope it is never introduced

i dont think Manchester City will be as good as everyone thinks they will be
and Manchester United wont struggle without Ronaldo & Tevez, they have players who can fit into their roles nicely.

Heya people!!

So we are now 6 weeks into the Premiership season and I just thought that I'd return to my original prediction and opinions and see how they compare to now.

So, firstly as you can see from previously I predicted
1.Manchester United
2.Chelsea
3.Liverpool
4.Arsenal

and I think I would still stick with that. I have not been impressed by Arsenal so far, Eduardo is a diving ****(!), and Liverpool don't look anything special. Chelsea and United seem a bit wobbly, a really good result, an iffy result and so on.

Secondly for my more controversial point!! I still don't think that Manchester City will not achieve anything of any great note this season. They have looked quite good, however they are already having disciplinary issues, Adebayor Bellamy et al, which I think will cause them problems in a few months. They seem quite disjointed and don't seem to really pull together to kill off games.

Oh welll.... guess we'll need to wait and see what this weekend has to offer, Enjoy.

Coming from someone who lives in Portsmouth, it'd be kind of funny to see them not win (again) for the 7th straight time. But somehow, we beat Stoke 1-0 last week. At least when Pompey go down to the Championship, the place won't be as busy on match days. I live 5 minutes from the stadium, can get damn busy.

What a performance by Arsenal this week though, has to be said.

Well Liverpool have made an inconsistent start and an injury to either Gerard or Torres would really screw them up. It really looks atm as though the top three will be between Chelsea, MU and MC, that leave the next group fighting for places. I put spurs in as a controversial choice, but its not way out and neither would villa be. So Liverpool need to up their game atm in my opinion to be sure of that top 5 place.

wow, who would of thought the season would go the way it did,

Portsmouth relegated, in the final of the fa cup, may get into europe on appeal

Liverpool no chance of top 4 finish, into the last 4 of the europa cup, and the club up for sale

No english team in the last 4 of the champion league

4 games left and a very open top place finish,

It has been a very exciting season, its not over yet, let it be said cannot wait for next season, please god liverpool will put up more of a challenge

Portsmouth relegated, in the final of the fa cup Shows the sprit in the club; The job Avram Grant has done at Pompey is amazing, Harry got the keys to the city for geting us the cup on 08 and then he packs his bags and go to Spurs.
This years cup run has been beater then the one in 2008, even if we lose in the final even if we lost in the semi it was.
The 4-1 win at scum was Amazing and the Spurs game went one beater, to get one over harry ment so much!!!.
I feel Proud to have seen pompey live at every round of the cup this year it has been amazing.

As Avram said you can break meny things but not our sprit!.
