My hand feels strange

Yesterday evening, I bashed my hand with my bike. I basically went in a big bump and the handlebar hit my hand and thumb. (I can't remember exactly how)

So my hand was fine, but now it feels numb... essentially it's like i've been sitting on my hand but there is no pain and no pins and needles. it feels like i'm not feeling it... if that makes sense? It's like I can't feel the top of my hand properly.

I have no idea whats wrong with me and i'm freaking out... what's wrong?

If you can't move all your fingers or it becomes swollen or discoloured then it could be broken and I'd go and see someone. You say it's the top of your hand. Is that your fingers or the part near your wrist?

I mean my knuckles, I guess the back of my hand. It feels empty in a way.. almost like i'm not lifting anythign... :S

that sounds like something to do with nerve connection, or lymph flow. wait till tomorrow, it should go away.

try making a fist , and squeeze the fingers in your other hand

if you cant do one of these you should see someone about it

Well you could have done nerve damage to your hand.

Do you still have any swelling.

Can you feel hot and cold on your hand.

I would say give this a few days then if you still have no feeling in your hand then go to a doctor.

Check to see if you still have a full range of movement in your hand, also check to see if there is any discoloration particularally at the fingertips.

Chances are it will just be bruised, take some painkillers and rest it up, worst case scenario is that you may have broke or fractured a bone.
