A depravity of words
Sanctions the new world's collapse.

A ten foot tower,
Built by a child, aged ten,
Collapses when struck by a light breeze
In a mere ten seconds.

A five story building,
Constructed by five well-to-do architects
Collapses when struck by a low flying plane
In just five minutes.

Debris: fragments of glass,
Bits of brick and concrete,
And innumerable shattered hearts
Are scattered across the ground.

A romantic cry for help,
Goes unheard in the dusty destruction
Of what once was thought
To be indestructible.

No one hears the dead whispers,
Or the posthumous remarks
About how if another five to ten seconds
Had been spent looking over the blueprints
Or writing up the guidelines for creation,
Maybe we could have avoided this collapse.
