So, this topic is for alcoholic beverages. Tell your experiences about alcohol, your favorite alcohol drinks etc.

Right now I´m slightly tipsy for drinking half a liter of Kilju, but I have some more and I will be more drunken soon....

Ahhh...alcohol...*drool*
Lol.

I once decided that it would be a good idea to lie down in the middle of our road and refused to get up even when a car came along! Lol. Lucky for me our road isn't too busy.

Mmm, Bailey's is heavenly!
I've become increasingly fond of wine lately.
But I'm currently interested in getting acquainted with Absinthe and am trying to get my grubby mitts on a particular bottle to make my maiden voyage with.

Alchohol is pretty gross. We use wine to cook and of course, the occasional glass. :)
Other than that, it's not very appealing to me.

I'm not much of a drinker. Sometimes some wine in cooking or some alcohol in some desserts (rather uncommon for us). The most common alcohol I'll use in desserts is Goldshlagger (sp?). If there's a birthday party, Christmas party, New Year's, wedding, etc... then I'll have maybe a beer but no champagne as licking a hobbit's foot would probably taste better. Or if we're celebrating something at home, I'll have one beer of some sort.

Generally though I'm a fan of the chocolates with alcohol inside (very very little in each). My favourites are whatever kind of brandy one, kahula and rum-flavoured, and whatever other flavour. I don't care for drinking enough to get tipsy nor drunk, I'm in it simply for the taste.

I've gone to some parties where people got drunk, passed out, etc... and I've done that already a few times. I'm not a big fan of it really and now, if I do go, I have one beer usually and/or one mixed drink of some sort. After that I call it quits as I'm into it mostly for the taste and not for the feeling of drunkenness and especially not the feeling of hangovers or puking away next to a toilet and passing out there.

That was probably to prevent it looking like you're promoting drinking or something.
Not that we don't already know that being drunk is one of the simple pleasures in life! Lol

I saw a car bumper sticker once that read "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy!"
When I get a car I'm soo buying myself something like that! Lol

EDIT
I can see why people don't like getting drunk but the whole thing about not liking the taste really is beyond me. Lol

I very rarely drink. One of the reasons being is 'cause that stuff tastes like piss, and I have to force myself to drink it, but for some reason I feel an urge to drink it sometimes.

Also, my experiences with it have been.. the usual. Except I've been drunk and chatted on MSN, but my most epic experiences with alcohol is school. I've been drunk twice before school.

The first time was the last day before Easter break, I drank this whiskey from a Lucozade bottle and drank it on the way to school, I was steaming by my first class. People on my row knew, but lol, it seems like the rest of the class didn't notice. My teacher "suspected" it, and him and some other teacher grassed me up to my Year Head, but by that time, I was sobering up, and I have a nice degree of self-control, so nothing happened..

The second (final) time wasn't as good. I drank Jack Daniels with a mixture of tablets (suicide attempt), and was hoping to pass out before school, but this failed, so, I took the rest of the bottle and kept it in my backpack and finished it at lunchtime. My friend didn't notice, even though I was helping her print stuff off and it was strong whiskey, and that day my last class was swimming (PE) and I managed to nearly get away with it, until some kid knew and was like "Chris is drunk", and yeah, my year head was contacted, and my dad was forced to pick me up.

Since then, my parents have hid alcohol, so sadly I haven't had much chance to drink in a while.. that was in May.

I don't see how anyone drinks not to get drunk... it tastes horrible and it's not enjoyable at all. Anyway, I'd settle for a coke.

My first experience with alcohol was at a party when I was 13. I didn't know my limits and drank a six pack quite quickly and then of course I threw up. That put me off alcohol for a while. Since then though, I've become quite a heavy drinker, not to the extent that it's dangerous but to the extent that I drink a lot and can handle it.

My drink of choice is beer, Corona is delicious but expensive (£1.10 a bottle where I am) so if I've got less money and feel like getting pissed I go for Stella. Of course some nights a bottle of red is nice, Hardy's Shiraz being my favourite. I hate most spirits.

Personally I find it quite hard to understand how anyone can dislike the taste of beer. I love it! :P But if you don't like drinking then it's probably for the best.

I love any type of liquer , gin, whiskey but i dont drink much now cos i used to get pissed when i was like 13 and a few months ago, i went to a mates party and got pretty drunk and said stuff i shouldnt have said and came onto a guy like 5 years older than me . SO- theres my reasoning behind drinking - i still enjoy it but dont get drunk any more :D

I drink every now and again only in social situations, like parties, clubbing etc never alone.

How much I drink depends on how much I want to unwind. I have a fair few stories from my drunken times good and bad.

As for the taste of alcohol, there is some many drinks out there, some of them taste like crap others really nice. My favourite drinks of choice are usually: Carling, Vodka & Redbull, Sambuca, Tequila.

ps. I hate hangovers!

Well being Irish i naturally drink atleast once a week.

I have to say i hate the taste of beer. It makes me phisically sick.

My choice of drink is cider. Bulmers being my favourite ( Thats magners any where other than ireland)

And i have to say the legal drinking age should be lowered to 16 atleast in ireland anyway. Although it wont matter to me in less than a month ill be 18 and legally allowed to drink

*chuckles* alcohol.... It's bitter sweet.
I don't get drunk often, I try to limit myself to a few times a year... But when I do it's ither at a good party, or just relaxin in my room.. I will get a glass, pour 2/3 shots of ice cold vodka, mix with Snapple, and drink... Don't even know I'm drinkin it, I will mix 2 glasses of it, then wait until it hits me, maybe take another shot.. Good

But once, I was playin some card game with a friend, every time one of us came out in the wrong, we would take a shot... I had about 8 shots of vodka and a beer... in about 1 1/2 hr. I couldn't walk straight, blacked out and woke up next day and felt absolutely horrible.

Let me add this, corona is a half-ass Mexican beer. You want some real Mexican beer from the Mexican Caribbean islands you try Pacifico. My beer of choice.

Anyone want to explain this? I've been drunk about 16 or 17 times now, and only once did I throw up. That was when I had first started it and went waaayyyy overboard. I don't even remember doing it, I just remember the room being very dark, and my stomache hurt so I layed down for what felt like forever and went on the floor, and I was good. Now, an hour or so before that I was in a state where I thought it would be a good idea to stick food (crackers or something, cant remember) down my pants so no one else could take them. (they were in a baggy or something). The real question is, I have NEVER had a hang over before, even though in experiences such as described above I thought that I was wasted.

Most of the time a hangover is caused by dehydration... I didn't state this is my post above, but I was at a party one night and I had close to 14 shots and 2 beers over the course of 5 hours with 2 glasses of water... was totally hammered last thing I remember was bits and pieces of me going up the stairs and then I woke up at 2pm like nothing happened the night before.

Hangovers are different from person to person and also depend on things like, what you are drinking, how much you drink, if you ate beforehand, how hydrated you are, your tolerance to drink etc.

Personally I don't get bad hangovers unless after a heavy night or drinking wine, I don't know why but that shit messes me up!

Heh, just had quite an experience with alchohol. Drank a beer with my brother and his friend, we each had like 10 chicken wings, and after I was alone I had about 4 shots of vodka. I didn't think it would do much to me, but it made me feel the worst alchohol ever has before, except maybe that time I described above, but I was to drunk to care then. I guess the saying beer before liquor never been sicker has some truth!

Lol. You are supposed to mix it with sugar and water - partly so you can watch it "louche" but more importantly so that it tastes better.
You should have either one of the special spoons to place the sugar cube on or a tea strainer and then you slowly drip the water onto it.

I hate being drunk, Hate it so much. I feel so out of control and hate the taste, though it is funny reading my Msn conversations that I had when I was drunk. :P
I do love the social side of drinking, Whenever my friends and I have a sleepover/party there's always alcohol so I force myself to drink slightly. The problem with that is that a couple of my best friends are very depressive when drunk, so I end up sitting with them and talking them through it. Sadly that then makes me very upset so I get the urge to drink more and end up doing something stupid, Vicious circle really.

Anyway I usually just drink straight Vodka or Alchopops :) As thats usually all that is avaliable. I enjoy drinking wine, anything sweet. But my Family see's that as a bad thing that I'm "Too old" for my actual age xD.

Best way to deal with a hangover is prevention.

The worst affects of a hangover come from dehydration, drink a pint of water before you go to bed and that helps a lot!

Make sure you had a meal before a drinking session, to line your stomach.

Also taking painkillers the morning after may help get rid of pain but remember your liver will already be on a mission dealing with the booze in your body from the night before, so giving it painkillers to metabolise is harsh. Think of your livers people!

Is Aspirin only for people over 16 in US? Here it is only for people over 12 in Finland!

Well, about the hangovers. Good way to prevent them is to eat something before, during and after drinking alcoholic beverages. Water is also good for preventing it. Drink one glass of water per one alcoholic drink.

If you still have a hangover, you can try this, people say it really is effective: Pour orange juice in glass and break 2 raw eggs in the glass. Then add a spoonful of honey and stir. Now, drink it! People say it really tastes good, thou it can sound gross.

my main experience with alcohol involved me and my best friend telling our parents we were spending the night at the others' house and taking some beers to the park in our subdivision. We didn't count on the security guards finding us or having them knock on our parents doors at 1:00 in the morning. I spent this past summer working all day as i was told I couldn't be trusted to be alone now. I haven't had a drink intentionally since then and I really don't plan on it. Although I did go to an after football party in October and drank some magical punch. I hate not being in control.

My only advice is if your going to drink, do it in moderation and FOR GOD SAKE DON'T DRIVE lol. but i don't drink too often so its never been a huge issue; mostly a party drinker and when I'm having a REALLY bad day/week. It was fun for awhile, until I found out my brian cells don't grow back for 30 years.
OMG LET'S GO TO SCHOOL FOR FUCKING FOREVER, THEN LOOSE EVERYTHING!
Wasn't into it, so now I only drink about 4 times a year.
Usually three times in the summer, once when I'm upset.

I use to use alcohol to escape my problems, it works for a bit, but not forever.

I'm very much a spirit kind of girl. I like my archers, Malibu and the likes.

Not that keen on alcopops since I always get hungover with them when I drink them in excess, whereas spirits don't tend to give me the hungover effect.

I used to be a Jagerbomb virgin until quite recently when I tried it, and I have to say, it is quite nice.

Also, apple sours are my favourite shots.

God, I sound like quite the alcoholic.

I don't mind vodka with juice, it's so strong but better than the red wine in this house.
& WKD's.

I'm into drinking more than smoking. It has more of an effect on me and I do enjoy the loss of stress that comes with being drunk. The problem with alcohol is that it tastes absolutely disgusting (other than a few select drinks, like fruit shots and stuff). I don't know anyone who can take a shot without a chaser, and I definitely wouldn't be able to do it.

Vodka is basically all I've drank, never had tequilla or scotch or any of that stuff. I've had whiskey before (mixed) and that was absolutely disgusting. I hate mixing drinks because there's no advantage over chasing, other than some drinking games requiring sips instead of shots. Beer is gross, i've never had a good experience with it and it doesn't do wonders for getting drunk.

There's basically two purposes for alcohol: cooking and getting drunk. I haven't read the whole thread so I don't know if someone else addressed this already, but i'll just mention it. Cooking with alcohol removes the alcohol from the drink, so it just gives you the flavor of the wine, rum, etc. that you used. Therefore, I don't consider this a purpose of alcohol. Its effects on the body are the purpose for drinking it, plain and simple.

My family has had a few problems with alcohol and some related illness - so I don't drink at all!!

Alcohol is grand once it is in moderation!

ANDREW

Allison smiles.

My family is pretty open about this...like at gatherings we'll pass around a bottle of wine.. or occasionally on a friday night, we'll all have some beer over pizza. But I'm not one to go chugging the stuff 24/7

I love alcohol! I love to get fucked up and chill with a bottle of sorts. However, I am very unpredictable when I am drunk. I can get moody, happy, flirty, hyper, lovey, depressed, reckless, etc. Sometimes when I'm drunk, I just start crying for no reason.
