Have you noticed that you have been primarily straight all of your life and that out of the blue, homosexual feelings have began to occur?? Have these intrusive thoughts began to haunt you for days (maybe even weeks) on end?? Do you not understand as to why you have to begun to feel this way out of the blue?? If so there is a near to 100% chance that you're not BISEXUAL or HOMOSEXUAL (sorry if this offends anyone, it was not my intention). If you have found yourself very uncomfortable by the thoughts of same-sex sexual activities or think of the idea as very unpleasant, there is a great chance that you are suffering from what is known as H-OCD. This is a very serious mental illness that makes one fear of feel that they are homosexual/bi-sexual when infact they are 100% heterosexual.

Below are links that further explain just how H-OCD works:

I found out that I am a HOCD sufferer, but knowing this has given me closure on the mental torment that I have been dealing with throughout this stage of my life. I hope this will do the same for everyone else out there who may be suffering from this illness.

Quite interesting to read about. I'll be honest, I assumed when I started reading through this that you were basically saying that anyone who was gay / bi has H-OCD, but after having read your post again and read the articles that you posted links to, I see now that the condition is the 'fear' of being homosexual / bisexual.

A few things to add though:

- I wouldn't be at all surprised if hormones played a large role with how some people feel with regards to their sexuality.

- I don't agree that it is a 'serious' condition.

- I don't agree that there is near a '100% chance that people feeling these sudden thoughts are not homosexual / bisexual

It has to be...as you read in the article it's IMPOSSIBLE for people sexual orientation to just change...if you fit the symptoms, you more than likely have this form of OCD.

Things like this are better to be diagnosed by a trained psychologist rather than internet links.

I second that.

LOL At the beginning it sounded like you were advertising something.

Maybe true...but if one has ALL of the symptoms..then what does that say?? LOL

It says nothing. You can create some of the symptons in your mind or exaggerate the others to make it sound bad. A trained professional has to look at your habits and diagnose from that.

True, that.

Yes, but if somebody just becomes "unsure" about their sexual orientation in the blink of an eye...how do you explain that? lol...as stated in the article it's IMPOSSIBLE for ones orientation to just change out of the blue. So no offense, but I would believe the medical doctors, therapists, and psychologists before those on this forums. HOCD is very real and serious, and many suffer from it.

Well quite. I mean I wasnt aware I even had a sexual orientation before puberty, frankly neither sex interested me. Then things changed.

Exactly, I have that problem too.

This sounds like BS, and it really annoys me.

I have to agree. Pure BS. People before Puberty dont realize they have a Sexuality, until, Umm, Puberty sets in, and people start realizing what turns them on and what doesnt, their sexuality doesn't CHANGE it develops

Well, I'm going to play the devil's advocate.

If you think you're gay/bi, well...you probably are!

And if having a bunch of people tell you that it's your hormones (and that you're straight) makes you feel more secure, then awesome. But that doesn't change anything.

Wrong! If you're thinking you're gay/bi, well...you probably aren't! When you're gay/bi, you just know you are, you can't think you are or think you aren't.

I'd been thinking that since the very first post, well done for saying it. +rep

Exactly. When you think you're gay or bi because you have an attraction to the same sex (sexual/physical/emotional), chances are, you're gay or bi!

Thinking it's all hormones and that you're straight....doesn't make you straight!
