It was epic for the first half, disappointing the second.

I left the theater thinking, I just sat through that??? That was 10 bucks? Rip-off.

Once again, I will say the first half or 3/4s was epic!

I don't mind much that they left out details of the book.
Honestly, the movie isn't supposed to be a carbon copy of the book.
Its supposed to be an actual movie. They have to adapt it for screen.
It can't be the exact same. Or even close since they have to condense a 700 page book to a 2.5 hour movie.
However, as a movie they failed.

Okay but in place of actual things that happened in the book they put stupid shit in there. The wealsy house didnt blow up that was soooo stupid that was 20 min that could have been put to better use

That was for special effects. And it screws up the plot for the next movie too.
So yea, that was stupid.

I agree, they butchered it in comparison to the book.
And as a movie on its own, the second half/end sucked.

i dont know if you have realized, but there is not going to be a wedding in the next movie.
The movies are obviously not going to be as the book, and they are preparing the 7th movie too..

as you noticed they took Olivader's in this movie not the next. Same principle applies for the Weasly house burning. They are preparing it so the 7th movie makes sense.

Im very sry to disagree but the Weasly house being destroyed maked zero sense in this movie and btw the 7th movie will make no sense with the house being destroyed here they fucked up this movie big time. I m sry yes there r things that have to be left out but they jus fucked up this movie im sry hate if you want

I loved the film, thought it was great. Its over 2.5 hours long as it is so of course stuff had to be left out, no point moaning too much about that.

I would agree that the ending was disappointing, looking forward to a serious wizard fight, zilch.

Okay people, there's a reason that they had a Burrow attack instead of the big fight at Hogwarts. The producers or whatever thought it would be redundant to have a big fight in Half-Blood Prince AND Deathly Hallows. Now on to Dumbledore funeral, I've heard that they MIGHT have a funeral at the beginning of DH: Part 1.

Okay so now what I thought of the movie. Well, I thought it was amazing. I was on a HP high for like a day after I saw it. The acting was so good, EVERYONE (with the exception of Bonnie Wright, ugh she was just so bland and un-Ginny like) did so well. Tom Felton just blew me away, I actually felt bad for Malfoy, and I hate him in the book and past movies. The trio was great. Dan and Rupert were funny as hell. No one can say Gambon isn't Dumbledore-y because he was the perfect Dumbledore in this. Jim Broadbent was great as Slughorn. I loved Order of the Phoenix but David Yates has definitely improved as a director. I think he's so good for the darker Harry Potter. The cinematography was so beautifully breathtaking. I loved the scene where Hermione is crying after she sees Ron and Lavender snogging, and Harry comforts her. It shows how close Hary and Hermione are as friends. I actually thought the ending was pretty good, a little fast but the rest of the film was well paced so it's alright. The Cave scene was straight up creepy and it was so sad, and I loved how they did Dumbledore's death scene and then had the wand tribute. HBP was the best and most emotionally engaging HP movie so far. The only things I didn't really like were Ginny, and the H/G scenes. They were just awkward and kind of weird. Like Ginny tying his shoelace. That was sort of wtf?! It was a funny innuendo though hehe xD. I think this is by far the best HP movie yet and I'm so excited for Deathly Hallows and I'm also excited to see HBP in IMAX. xD

Umm well the producers are on frickin crack.

That honestly what I love about thtese mvoes. Its what I expect. I expect people shooting spells at eachother. I enjoy those. Thoroughly.
So. Yea. Producers didn't care about being redundant. They cared about saving money. Asses.

And the deletion of the burrow leads to no wedding so they maybe will start off with the mourning of dumbledore and that crap

Well, I mean it's done and over so there's no use in getting mad about it. It was still a very good movie without the big battle. It wasn't really needed tbh.

No, there will be a Bill/Fleur wedding.

Funny, I was thinking of making this thread an hour before it was originally posted.

I have a few things I need to say about this movie.

1) Harry Potter is a fantasy, not a romance. The producers shouldn't have shown so much of the teen drama and should have shown more of the adventure Harry went through.

2) I accept the fact that they had to leave details out. Honestly, I thought blowing up the Weasely house was not necessary, but I don't mind.

3) The novel itself is absolutely brilliant. I love the storyline, I love the sacrifices, and I love everything it represents. The did a great job showing things I would only imagine from reading. However, there important parts that they missed and they failed to give the characters any depth. Honestly, if half of the minor characters were to die in this movie, I wouldn't care. From this movie, you miss all of their personalities. In the novel, you feel like you've known any of the characters all your life.

In conclusion, the movie was semi-great to only okay. The lack of effort to show crucial events was disappointing. If you've read the books, this movie will feel almost insulting. However, if you have liked the movies in the past, you will love the new movie. If the "romantic" scenes were left out and substituted with action scenes, I would have enjoyed the movie more. These scenes set up for the finale which will be full of emotion but not enough action. I give this movie 8-8.5 out of 10.

I've read the book and I thought the movie was great. Half of the 6th book IS about the kid's at Hogwarts love lives. I don't see what the problem is with the romance scenes. This is the last time before the trio embark on this epic journey that they get to have fun and act like teenagers. I'm glad that they made this one kind of light and dark at the same time because Deathly Hallows is going to be really really dark.

it was shitty
i was severely disappointed

and i can't believed they changed how dumbledore dies
like where harry is and the circumstances
he wasn't hiding downstairs standing there being useless like a lil bitch in the book he was cloaked and pinned through magic by dumbledore only when albus dies does the spells hold release and then harry understandably is in shock for a few seconds then goes into a massive rampage which they dumbed down allot in the movie

I didn't mind it, I thought it was a lot less darker than the other ones and more light hearted with all of the love stuff, but I really need to stop going into the theatre with such high expectations. There's my mistake lol. But it wasn't that bad, I thought it was LOADS better than the fifth.

I thought it was utter shit.

I wasted my money on it, definitely.

Too much teenage romance in it. This is not Twlight, thank you very much.
Dumbledore's death was a huge disapointment too.

I 99% agree. I didn't pay for it however, and am very glad I didn't. If it was good I would be prepared to pay to see it properly, but no way.

I wanna go see it it, purely cause i've watched and read all the others. But the ratings of it are quite shocking, considering the first 3 films were rated really high. they just seemed to go downhill. I think the last one will be better, cause their splitting it in two so they can put it all in rather than cutting bits out like the other films

The idea of all the romance is a bit meh though. Its not meant to be focused on that. If i wanted romance id watch twilight lol :P

It was VERY VERY disappointing to me. I have the story practically memorised and as I watched the movie, I was thinking wait... what? no NO thats all wrong! but thats just me. but as a movie in general, it was decent. I just about had a temper tantrum as the credits started to roll. the kiss between harry and ginny was pathetic, like whatthefuck? rupert grint did well while he was acting under the love potion (that was my favourite part of the movie). dumbledore's death was fucked up too, and where the hell was the big wizard fight?!

I guess the producers want to keep people on edge for deathly hallows but if they keep this up... it'll be a HUGE let down :(

I think it focused a lot more on the romance than it should have... They could have covered a few more subplots without so much of that! The Harry/Draco "ooh I'm onto you!" saga was over and done pretty quick...

I agree with the person above me. I was disappointed there was no fight at the end - the "producers" were wrong and failed to PRODUCE the movie that should have been.
This is the movie leading into the final part of the story (i know deathly hallows is being split into 2 movies) and it should have set up the next movie a lot better.
Apart from that I think it was very good.
They continuously choose the perfect actors for the roles. Except Lavender, she was pretty annoying. he guy that plays Snape is VERY good. As is Draco and Ron. Emma Watson is pretty good. but she has moments where I can sorta see her thinking 'why am I here??'. But sheis good.
