How long has it been there. If it just showed up give it a week or two, but if its been there for several weeks, get you parents to call the doctor.

I've gotten those before.
I think they're caused just by stuff rubbing down there.
Yes they hurt a bit.
But it's not cancer.

Give it a week or two. If it's still not gone, then consult a doctor.
But really, nothing to fret about.

It's easy getting freaked out over small bumps but their usually nothing, I wouldn't worry too much,

You could be in hernia territory there, its hard to tell exactly from your description. A hernia is normally like a small golf ball but would not normally be red. Get it checked.

QFT, somtimes it's the simpliest answers that work the best.

It's extraordinarily unlikely it's cancer! It's not a hernia, which is when a loop of bowel/intestine breaks thru to the scrotum (yeah, ewww!), and appears as another *thing* in your scrotum. Chances are it's some normal event, there are blood vessels and lymph nodes in the groin, which can be more noticeable at certain times than others.

If you showed your dad and he said it's nothing to worry about, it's ok to trust him, he's got a groin, too!

It could be a zit that hasn't reached the surface.
how big is the bump?
It also could be a bug bite or something of the source.

Ah sorry to argue Sam, but I've actually had an inguinal hernia and it was in my groin, nowhere near the scrotum. According to wikipedia a direct inguinal hernia can affect both men and women and cannot move into the scrotum.

However the OP's description doesnt sound quite like what I had, but I would still get it checked.

no, not really, but the operation to repair it, done with a local anaesthetic, was not much fun

You can get a cancer down there. Talk to the doctor, he/she'll know what to do.

Could be a cyst.

As everyone has said, go to the doctor.

Sounds like a simple skin tag to me. :| But more info might be helpfull:

How big is it? Is it hard or fleashy? Does it hurt when you touch it on top, or just when you run your finger over it? Is it the same reddish pink colour as a zit, or is it red like blood? Do you spend a lot of time with your crotch exposed to the sun?

Anyway, like everyone said: if you're worried, goto a doctor.

I had a decent size lump under the skin of my right groin for maybe a month, and then it just went away. Wait for a few weeks, and if nothing gets better, call a doc.

Rather than wait and see what happens, it is better for you to book a doctors appointment and get it checked as soon as possible. It is better for you to go and find out if it is something so it can be treated sooner, rather than wait and hope it goes away.

There is several things that it could be, there is no point freaking yourself out by speculating the worst eg cancer.

Also unless your dad is a qualified medical professional his ideas on what it could be are as useful as asking random people on the internet..
