ok, so what if like, ur gonna be swimming for more then 6 hours (sum people actually do!) and u dont know if ur gonna start bleeding and u gotta wear tampons when u swim so what if its just a "just in case tampon" can u kepp it in 4 da 6 hrs?

Tampons should be changed due to how much they absorb. Follow the instructions fully on the packet.
Tampons can absorb 20x their own weight. It's more about that than the hours. They should be changed when they absorb too much, and with experience you should know when you need to change them. Before swimming, change your tampon.

Hmmm. In answer to you're question, I'm not 100% sure. I think you can keep it in for longer than 6 hours if there isn't any blood, however I could be wrong. As bacteria can still grow.
I'd recommend changing the tampon before swimming and afterwards. Keep a record of when you're periods usually start, that way you'll know that you COULD be on then. There is also no problem why you can't get out during the time you are swimming. If you/someone were swimming when their period is on, they would get out every couple of hours to change the tampon, so why not do it when you're using a tampon, whether you are on or not?
I hope this helped answer :)

No no no..
bad idea.
Dude if you're going swimming you're probably not going to start bleeding, and even if you do... it's not like you turn the water red

Tampons should be changed depending on your flow, I have TSS, so I have to change it every 3-4hours or i'll be in alot of stomach pain. (I hate pads.. they feel like diapers xD) Anyways, just to be safe, try to take 1-2 bathroom breaks to change it.
Swimming can also allow the tampon to absorb fluids, but just make sure to keep track of time(:

the prolonged use of tampons can produce TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome).
TSS is a rare but dangerous illness produced by bacterial toxin.
(had to google what it was xD)
If you use tampons for more than the recommended time, you risk getting TSS, and that is why should change it often.

Yup.. but it's also genetic):
My mom has it, too.
And let me tell you.. it hurtsss. Like, doubled over, curled up on the floor, hurts.
Which is why I previously stressed to change it more often than the box suggests.

i think it's best if you leve it in for only 3 hours and then change.
{just in case};)

You're going to have to go to the bathroom at some point during that 6+ hour period, so I wouldn't worry about it being a problem honestly.

i don't have to use the restroom every six hours....
but anyways, you can leave it in longer than that, i'm sure.
i've been doin it for years.
i sleep in them, for well over six hours and i'm just fine.
so, don't sweat a thing. just change it when its absorbed enough,
and i don't think you really gotta worry :D

I bet you do, even if you don't realize exactly how long it's been. Six hours is a long time to go without peeing, especially since you generally have a meal every six hours or less.

i'm not trying to argue or prove you wrong or anything, but i usually only use the lavatory once a day, in the morning. maybe im just weird.

oh believe me hun you can keep it that in as long as it dont over fill lol! but um i wouldnt really recomend it.. id look for signs of you starting
like pubic bone pressure where it feels like your pubic area is gonna explode! and maybe cramps and breast softness and bloating. but im sure you can put it in just in case i did have my period but i "ended" like right when i put it in at the water park so like it barely had anything on it. yes i had it in more then 6 hours

I was going to say this.
I would pay attention to it.

i recently had my swimming carnivle and unfortunetly had to use one, and i put it in before i went to school, so around about 8 and then at 11 i started bleeding through my cozzie and shorts, so thats only 3 or so hours for me. but it was the first time i used it.
