View Full Version : Sunburn

I was at a baseball game that was unexpectedly sunny, and went into extra innings, so I sat in the sun for about 5 hours with no sunscreen, and got completely roasted. The worst hit areas are my ears, nose, and knees, all of which will likely peel after they've run their course.

Ideas?

DO you have any aloe vera on hand? I've found that it has helped me in the past. It's very cool.

In my mom's garden---that's convenient. ^_^

Hey using baby lotion will help out too and maybe keep you from peeling.

Get an aftersun with aloe vera, make sure you apply it regaurly. I was doing it every half hour or so on my back, which was very bad and it didn't peel, and normally I do. :) I am not saying it will do the same to you but it worked for me :)

Aaah, something I can help with! I get sunburned well....every time I'm out in the sun, no matter how much sunblock I wear!

Anyways, yes, aloe vera will help. They make it in bottles in most stores, it might be blue or green. I keep mine in the refrigerator. That way, it adds added relief when it hits the burn! Also, don't take too hot of showers, that makes it burn lots too.

Usually, once mine starts to peel, it doesn't hurt anymore, so I just use an exfoliating loofah in the shower to help get the dead skin off of it.

I second this. Aloe vera works pretty well on sunburn, I've got an after sun lotion thing yiwth it in and it does its job pretty well :)

Actually, i would be very carefull when you shower... i had sun poisioning last year, and the water hitting my skin actually killed when it hit me. a cold bath or something might be better off than a shower

Hey, thanks for all your help guys (and girls). The gel that came directly from the aloe vera plant worked really well, as did some lotion I found. In the end only my nose peeled, although showering was a pain--literally. Thanks for the help.

Go buy sum Natural Yoghurt inthe dairy section of ur local supermarket and put all over your sunburn, the thicker the better, lie down it it on it will smell a little but it will sting and completely take the sting out.

I was on the seaside the past 10 days... I was roasting on the sun at 40 Celsius in the shade, that's 60 on the sun. I was on the beach 8 hrs a day. I am redder than red color. But, i just waited and it's gone. Use some cream or something.
