After much thought I've decided I'm gonna be a paramedic. :) Just thought I'd let y'all know. OH! Does anyone know if when you're a paramedic if you get hired by the city or a hospital? Someone brought that up and I was all.....o.O I dunno.

Well, it depends where you live really. I'm not sure about Albuquerque, but my cousin is a Class 1 trauma doctor at Denver Medical, and she said that you can get hired by the city, the hospital, or a private company. A private company would be like LifeFlight or some other form of medical transportation.

If I get into medical school, I hope to be a trauma doc, maybe we'll work together :)

Haha yeah who knows? One of my best friends is training to be a surgeon at the same time as me. :) I'm so excited about this. I finally figured out what I wanna do and it's like a weight lifted off my shoulders. I even figured out what college classes I need to take for the basic emt program and I'm gonna take some of those the same time as highschool. I can't wait!! :D

You get hired by the Ambulance service like Gold Cross but some hospital own there own Ambulance Service. So yeah! I know this because my grandmother is a EMS Director for the town of Manila! Means she can go get drugs.

Yeah if you are a paramedic you work for the ambulance service like Gold Cross or Red Cross Or you could work for Life Light!

Alright. Thansk everyone! :D Hopefully were gonna disenroll me from highschool this year [was gonna be a junior] and just take my GED and start college full time. :) I can't wait I'm so excited now that my future is a lil clearer! :)

It really depends. In the city that I live in, some EMT's work for certain hospitals, some work for metro, and some work for private companis.
Depending on where you live, you can pick and choose. (:

Most of the fire departments in the town I live in also have ambulances. I'm not sure why they do it that way, but I know that it's that way here.

depends on where you live smaller areas its probably going to be the hospital in larger cities its usually its outsourced to private company's and some areas its run by the FD. Hope this helps:yes:

Because most fire department calls are medical. Firemen have to have some medical training.

Well the city I live in is about 500,000 people so idk which one that fits in. I don't plan on working here though. I sure hope not actually. I wanna work on either the East or West coast. Not sure which one yet though. So say I worked in LA or New York or some big city like that I would most likely be working for a private company or the FD. Hmm....cool. Haha Here's hoping. :woot:

In Florida you get hired by either a county fire rescue or an Ambulance company like Sunstar, or American Medic or sumthin like that
