View Full Version : Question about measuring...?

Okay, so I have recently come to the epiphany that penis size doesn't really matter, and I have somewhat come to terms with my size. Still, however, just for my own personal information, I want to know my size. Just to reassure myself that I'm average. I'm seventeen, by the way. Anywho, I have read a LOT of stuff about measuring, and have tried different methods. First, let me say that I'm a bit chubby, and have the fat around the base. Anywho, the first method I believe I read was to stand up, use a straight, hard ruler, and measure along the top. Sounded reasonable, but I pressed in to hard. Next I heard about using a measuring tape because some penises curved, and I tried that. It seemed a little more accurate, but I still would get discouraged because I would always come up with a different measurement. Finally, I heard about laying down, holding you penis to where it is pointing straight toward the ceiling, and measuring with a measuring tape along the top. I did this a myriad of times and always came up with five inches. I tried it with a ruler, using the same method, and only came up with four and three fourths. It was at this point that I noticed my penis DID curve upwards the slightest little bit. I was able to put a string between the ruler and the top of my penis, meaning the hard ruler wasn't measuring accurately. So I determined the third way was the correct way and should be the way everyone uses, because if you have fat there, it separates the penis from the fat. What do you guys think? One thing to add, however, I tried this sitting down and held my penis away from my body using a measuring tape and got five inches. However, when I let my penis relax and go back against my pubic bone, I tried measuring again and was a little shy of five inches. What caused this do you think? Also, would it be safe to say that I am five inches? Your thoughts...?

It would be safe to say you're 5 inches, because what happens if you think you are and you aren't? Nothing.
1/4th of an inch makes no difference. It's so small it's not noticeable at all. So my thoughts are that you have absolutely nothing to worry about, and you should take pride in the fact that you have a penis that's normal.
As for measuring, no one is going to do it the same, so there's always going to be some difference. But again, if you're always getting within 1/4th of an inch, just aveage it out and there ya go.
Either way, you're fine.

This is a real stumper. I stand up, make sure it's erect to it's fullest, and use a hard ruler. I make sure the ruler touches the base of my penis. But it seems like you don't have a standard for measuring. If you got above 5" most of the time, then just go with that: a little above five. 5" itself is fantastic!

mate, that's an awful lot of trouble to go into to measure something give or take a quarter of an inch. saying you're "around" 5 is fine, it's not a space shuttle mate, it won't effect the launch :)

Yeah, the method I've always used is the hard ruler at the top of my dick. Precision isn't incredibly important, and if you get it within 1/4 or even 1/2 an inch either way, it doesn't really matter that much. If you're around 5" you're normal.

Yeah,I think that method is better, but anyways, your penis is normal.

okay, i think i use a different measuring techniuqe. i put the hard ruler next to my penis an measure from the base to the tip. is that a correct or good way to measure? or should there be a different (correct) way?

The usual way is to put it on top of your penis, not next to, but it's all the same, i think.
