so i have 2 friends (neither is me, really). one is 17 and the other 19. my 19 year old friend can grow a scrappy little beard and really only has that happy trail thing on his stomach. my 17 year old friend could have grown a full beard at 14 and when he takes off his shirt he looks like the wolf-man. so how does that happen? what actually determines the amount of body hair you get?

The rate of your growth is determined by the genes passed to you at birth from your mother and father

It's all in the genes. Some men are hairier than others, and pass that gene down. Not all people are the same, yo.

It's really a mixture of family inheritance and the general stage of puberty itself. You said they were like 17 and 19, and it seems like they were early bloomers from the start.

Yeah its all in the genes---they determine how much testosterone, etc your body releases, which determines things like how hairy you are, and how low your voice gets, etc.

it is all determined by the genes passed down by parents.

I have a theory that the heavier you are the harier you are... because theres like um... 4 of us slightly overweight, and all of them (one being me) are hairy... as in chest, snail trail, pubes, pitt... not proven so dont say its true...

It's possible your 14 year old friend is more hairy since every1 grows at different rates, and it is determined by genes as well as testosterone(i think).

Well as said it's all genes. If you have a hairy family, then you can expect yourself to be most-likely hairy. Also, everyone grows at different rates. My 14-year-old friend already looks like he's 21.

Its determined by your family and genes. If your parents aren't hairy, you most likely won't be either.
