I have only had it once before and it lasted four days it's been nearly two weeks.

How heavy are you bleeding?

It's common to spot for a few days before and/or after your period, especially at the beginning when your body is still regulating. Some women continue to spot later in life though. Spotting is characterized by a very light flow, often that dark maroon/brownish color that you probably noticed during your last period (and this one). During the middle of your period it's likely that the blood will get redder as the fresh blood comes out, but dark blood tends to indicate either the beginning or the very end, as it's the dead stuff. If that's what you're seeing, especially if it's slowing down, you're probably just fine. Give it a few more days and see if it continues to happen less and less.

If you've been bleeding that brighter red for the past two weeks, though, especially if the flow isn't slowing at all, you might want to ask your mom about seeing the doctor. For the first few years, your periods will be irregular, and some may last longer than normal. Still, two weeks is a while. Unless it seems to be petering out, you may want to make sure that it's just normal fluctuation. :)

Periods are tricky things. They're never happy and on a nice schedule. Mine once only lasted for 3 days, with nothing but some brown spots. Then it started up again a week later. Then it went away, and a month went by, and it returned to "normal"

Little things can effect it, what you eat, when you wake up, your stress level, everything. Since you just started, I'd wait a little longer, and if you're still concerned, go see a doctor about it.

You are very lucky to just have it for 4 days. I hva emy for a full week and its a heavy flow so it sucks. and Remember you might have it twice in one month. (that will rarely happen though)
