I've started to. Like I kinda half-made a pair of pants. They're about as crazy as it gets. But does anyone know good places online to buy kinda punk style fabric? Like stripes and plaid and stuff like that? I've gotten tired of paying $17 for a shirt so I'm gonna do something about it. :D

I have made a lot of my own jewellery.
I am planning to make my own clothes sometime in the future, it can be a challenge. ^_^

I have a friend who was into making and customising their own clothes, and a lot of the resources such as fabric and buttons etc they did not buy new, but scavenged them off clothes from vintage stores and charity stores.
They made some really good alternative wear :).

Try finding a fabric store in your area. If I want buttons or fabric for something, I always head down to my local craft store or quilting supply store. Things are usually cheap, too, maybe a few bucks for a yard of fabric, which can really go a long way.

Just today I went to Joanns and Walmart, [yeah I was desperate enough to try walmart] I was looking for knits and the only good stuff was at Joanns but it was like 8 bucks a yard. O_O I was stunned. I was gonna go to another store but they were closed. I'll try them tomorrow. Hopefully I can find some cheap stuff. If not I can always cannibalize some thrift store shirts. :)

I don't have any way of making money right now, so I can't afford supplies. I'd certainly do it if I did, though.

You can update old with old.
I've made clothes out of old clothes I already had before.
Just find a constructive way to re-use the material with others that you have,
And you may find something works pretty well.
When I was like, 14, I used to make fashionable headbands from old shirts.
And one time, I cut pattern holes into a pair of black Tripp NYC pants,
Then cut up an old red shirt, and sewed on the red from the inside so that the pattern holes were red.

Ooh, I forgot to mention that! That's also a good way to get fabric--I actually keep certain old clothes that I don't wear, just because I can see a future use for the fabric.

I wish I could actually finish a project. xD
I have many skirt designs I was going to make but it was put on hold for 2 reasons 1) Not enough money 2) The fabrics I wanted weren't in the shop.
I have bracelets in the making as well that I have apparently stopped doing.. I have 6 uncompleted friendship bracelets taped to my desk. I should finish them.

In my mind a project is never finished. I'm always finding new patches to put on pants and new pants to cut up and make better. :) And as far as bracelets go I have a shoelace tied around my wrist and those colorful generic bead one and one made of nothing but jingle bells. :D I like making noise. :) I too have the problem of money, or lack thereof, and fabric stores with little selection. :(

I cut up some skinny jeans once. It looked damn cool but then a mixture of playfighting and general wear and tear the slits became big holes. I wore purple tights underneath which looked awesome! I was thinking of cutting them into shorts though. I need shorts. Im not sure though...

That sounds awesome!! :D I say go for it. I'm kinda doing that but I'm taking a pair of pants I dont wear anymore and cutting holes and designs in them and then stitching fabric behind them. I got the idea from a member here. :)

Oooh I remember now!
I've made a studded belt before, but it broke. :(
And I have doodled on bags and Converse shoes before.
Oh and I also have ripped jeans up before when I was a kid, they looked rad! xD
But sadly they don't fit anymore, because they were a kids size jeans. :P

^ Kind of like that really. Except the jeans were dark blue. xD
