Anyone here keeping up with the Tour de France?
I think this year's tour is going to be the best!

I agree completely. Who are you going for? I'm for Alberto Contador for the GC win and I hope Tyler Farrar gets one stage win. He was so close on stage two but Cavendish beat him. Grrr.

Despite what people think about Armstrong, I think he holds a pretty good chance of winning.
Cavendish, well, he is an amazing sprinter, but he is losing a whole lot of time on the mountain stages, so is Cancellara...
I really hoped Cadel Evans would have grabbed a stage win..
I'd say I was cheering was Astana....

Oh I don't doubt Armstrong. Just how many wins does he need? I mean seriously?
And that one French kid! Feillur or something like that. That was pretty awesome when he grabbed the stage win in the breakaway. :)
It's gonna get really crazy in the last few mountain stages. Especially cuz they're finishing on Mont-Ventoux. :D
I'm so excited!!!

same here...yeah that kid...amazed everyone..
It was his first tour....
I dont know how many wins Armstrong needs, but it'd be cool to see him in yellow after 3 years of retirement...
Yeah the mountain stages are going to go crazy... I wonder if Sastre is going to make a move..so far he has been staying at the back of the Peloton and the Chases..

Psshh I know right? Crazy kid.
I hope Sastre does. I wonder what everyones reaction would be?
Currahee
July 13th, 2009, 10:06 PM
yeah, I mean Sastre did wait until the last stages of the tour last year...thats basically how he won...
I'd be surprised if Sastre won again...
You know how Astana keeps taking the front of the peloton...I think they're trying to send a message...Dont Mess With Astana...

I would also be surprised. Very surprised actually.
Yeah, Astana does seems to be the strongest team out there.
Do you think there's an actual "power struggle" between Armstrong and Contador though?
Currahee
July 14th, 2009, 10:34 AM
I'd say yes. Both of them want to win, both of them want to lead, and they're both very good cyclists. And there is also the problem of who is getting the spot light...
Armstrong made a statement before Stage 10 started and he said that he wouldnt deny that there is, in fact, friction...but both he and Contador are trying to prevent a tragedy, and that is someone else gets the win...
By the way, did you see Cavendish and Hushovd today? He really wants that Green Jersey back...
Cavendish could have gotten it last year if he hadnt dropped out for the Beijing Olympics...

Ahhh I haven't watched it yet! Don't tell me anything! hahaha I don't really care actually. I usually watch it at night with my parents. We record it cuz we has a sattelite thingy. :) Ahhh I love watching sprints. :) I'll keep my eye out for Hushovd and Cavendish Duking it out. :D

It's alright I don't really care. Well I just watched it. Kinda wish that breakaway could've done it but they didn't really have a chance. Anyway have you heard that they're testing Armstrong up to twice daily for drugs? That's crazy!
Currahee
July 14th, 2009, 06:45 PM
Testing Armstrong for drugs? Bunch of people just wont admit a man can do such amazing things....
Dont know which channel you watch it on, but the commentators on my channel kept mentioning the ban of race radios..and said that the riders seem to be sort of on a strike...You know, not chasing the breakaway, going slow....
Didnt seem like it at the end...and Hushovd stays in Green...
2D
July 14th, 2009, 06:52 PM
We watch it in versus I think. Yeah they said that they didn't have the radios today but it didn't look like it was going slow. Oh well I think no radios would make it more interesting. Yeah Hushovd did enough. I just don't know how long he can keep it if Cavendish keeps winning stages like that.
Currahee
July 14th, 2009, 08:11 PM
yeah, versus...same...
Well if Hushovd keeps getting second, and the difference in points between first and second are very small...Hushovd will stay in green...
2D
July 14th, 2009, 08:27 PM
What is the difference? I know first gets 35 but what does second get?
Currahee
July 15th, 2009, 03:30 PM
depends on the sprint...the one for stage 10 was 1st 35, 2nd 30...
So Hushovd still stays in green....but that is stage 10....
Columbia HTC is doing a superb job of delivering Mark Cavendish to the finish line... And Hushovd is having a hard time because Cervelo Test Team is trying to defend their title...

what did you think about stage 12?

July 16th, 2009, 06:13 PM
That was today's right? With the 7 man breakaway?

July 16th, 2009, 11:00 PM
I watch it on the built in tv screens on the excercise bikes in the gym lol, so I only usually see the highlights.
Currahee
July 17th, 2009, 10:38 AM
You miss out all the excitement from the highlights! Should watch it live...Then you feel the thrill! :P
Levi Leipheimer is out, broken wrist in the last 2 Kilometers of stage 12....Lance just lost another right hand man...
That Cervelo guy, Heinrich Haussler...was extraordinary. He knew he had won before he even passed the 1km banner...Man, Im all for him and Armstrong now...
2D
July 17th, 2009, 08:00 PM
Well Lance hung in there with no sweat it looked like. Can't wait till the last 3 stages. Starting with that time trial. Man it's gonna be awesome. And Haussler was crazy. He was in tears at the finish. I bet that's a great feeling.
Currahee
July 18th, 2009, 12:12 PM
yeah...i bet it is an awesome feeling...
Cant wait for the Alps. Wonder what Andy Schleck and Carlos Sastre are gonna do...
Dont know if you watched Stage 14 yet, but it was quite exciting too...
The patience Ivanov must have gone through...waited for Roche to go and then he went when everyone in the breakaway were reorganizing...
Then Roche went again for second place..
Just cant believe Hincapie lost but .05. Everyone thought Nocentini and AG2R would lose the yellow jersey, and the next day, they're still wearing it...:D:D:D:D
2D
July 18th, 2009, 02:50 PM
I'm annoyed at Astana. Hincapie could've had yellow and that wouldn't have mattered at all. But Lance and Astana decide to pull them back? WTF is with that? Hincapie did nothing but help Lance win all his tours and that's what he gets in return? Pretty effed up in my opinion.
Currahee
July 18th, 2009, 05:24 PM
Well AG2R said before the start that they would not try to defend the jersey, they knew they had lost it. But when they saw that Hincapie could be pulled back, they went for it.
And obviously, Astana was surprised...since they were doing the pacemaking... I would have wanted Hincapie to get it too, he deserved it!
And I suspect Contador was talking to Johan Bruyneel about Hincapie and AG2R... Lance said, publicly, that he wanted Hincapie to wear yellow more than anything...
Whats funny is that everyone keeps saying Nocentini is going to lose yellow, and yet he keeps wearing the darn thing!

Omg we always used to watch this in French class as a "treat". Lol.
Yeah, I found it rather funny and amusing, but that's just me being weird again. Meh.

I actually went and saw it.
I was on holiday, and it was going near us so we went to the side of a road to see it.
I recorded it too on my camera as they shot past me, very, very fast, just blurs of colour. :)
I take a casual interest in it.

Lucky! I wanna head off to Paris and watch them finish...
And im very glad to see that ARMSTRONG IS BACK!! Really back...Broke off from a chase, alone, and headed off to the breakaway. Shook off Frank Schleck and Christian Vandevelde...AMAZING!
