Mine are not growing in straight, however, it does not hurt at all, and they are already erupting through my gums. I feel no pain at all.

This may sound dumb, but can wisdom teeth eventually straighten themselves out? I really don't want to get them pulled out and I hear it is very painful and sometimes not necessary because our bodies are designed to make room for them and stuff...

I have the same problem. But I've never heard of someone keeping their WT.

I'm not very knowledgable on dentistry in particular but I would assume if they're coming in the wrong way, then there's not many ways for them to straighten themselves out without human interference. They may cause pain and irritation later on so you could swing by the dentist.

Since they're not impacted, yes they will grow in. They won't suddenly become straight, however. You're right that our mouths can make room to accommodate the wisdom teeth, but unfortunately this is often done by pushing the rest of your teeth out of the way, leading to crowded and crooked teeth. If you've had braces, this means that you will most likely need to have them again after all is said and done. Unless your dentist says that your wisdom teeth are fine where they are and definitely don't need to be removed, go ahead and take them out. I'm guessing you wouldn't be asking unless your dentist has already suggested it, however. Not everyone needs them taken out, but it's a good idea for most people these days.

We don't use them anymore, and we don't need them anymore, so don't shed any tears if you have to lose 'em. I had mine taken out last year, and can tell you that the operation isn't a very big deal. It's over in about an hour and, thanks to the anesthesia, you don't even remember much. I remember nothing from a few seconds after the IV went in my arm to about an hour after waking up, and none of it was scary at all. You don't wake up in pain either--you're too loopy and your face is usually still too numb for you to really notice or care. Some people don't have much pain at all. Since yours are already erupting through the gums it might even be easier, I'm not sure. The oral surgeon will have less to cut through in order to get them out, at least, which means less trauma to your mouth. You may not even need general anesthesia, if you're worried about them knocking you out, it all depends. Annnnd, unless you have TMJ, you're not likely to be in a ton of pain. It'll be manageable, at least. I have it and at the time I wasn't able to take ibuprofen, so I hurt pretty bad for a little while. xP I survived, though, and you will too if faced with having your teeth pulled. I promise.

Getting your wisdom teeth pulled is probally the best thing you could do for them. I thought they would hurt myself, and they were hurting before i had them pulled... but i had absolutely no pain from them being pulled. The worst part of having them pulled was that i would not stop eating, and i really wanted food that i couldnt eat. But you would be knocked out for them, and you are so high on painkillers after the pulling, you really wouldnt care what happens. But then you get put onto strong painkillers for the next couple days so you wont feel pain except for about once every 5 hours when your pills wear off.

Unfortunately, wisdom teeth generally do not straighten themselves out, and if anything, they get worse over time. In my case my wisdom teeth were coming in quite crooked, and they were constantly scratching my checks which hurt. If anything, the procedure removing my wisdom teeth was far less painful than the constant pain of having the wisdom teeth intact in my case. Removing wisdsom teeth are not bad, and as long as they are erupted, then you shant have any problems.

I managed to be born without wisdom teeth. But like John said, you'll be so knocked out and on painkillers that you'll be fine, just follow the doctor's orders
