iTunes gift card help

I just got a 15 dollar iTunes gift card for my birthday. I went to redeem it at the iTunes store, but I have to create an Apple ID and have a credit card. I thought you didn't have to have an Apple ID or a credit card if you had an iTunes gift card? What gives?

You have to have an apple account or an AOL account to buy music from iTunes. I'm pretty sure it's free to set up an account, and takes a whole five minutes.

There should be an option that reads "no credit card" at the bottom of the screen

But yes, you do need to set up an account.

As other people have said, yes you need an account, but you don't need a credit card. Setting up an account takes like 3 minutes.

You need to create an apple account to have your money deposited to.

All you should need is an email and password. An Apple ID is something differnet
