My dad used to listen to ROCK FM, and on the way home from a friends, my friends mum switched that radio station on and my mood went from hyper to depressed as soon as I read the title. When I get reminded of him one way or another I feel depressed and like such an idiot for shutting him out. I dont know if I should feel this way or what, I just dont know anymore.

It's rather common, and understandable, now I myself have never lost a parent, so I won't be able to fully understand what your going through, but remain strong, and just remember that we all make mistakes, sometimes we just have to learn from them and move on, realizing that thats what is the most important to do. And try to help others that have gone throught the same situation, because for all you know, your the only one they will ever meet to help them out. Live on, Live to love, and Live to give, and don't forget, to live with something you would die for.(this will push on to live, and to fight through whatever you face) If you need more personal help I would love to help you through PM's so i can get a better Idea of what you are going through.(But this is up too you)

Yeah, i understand how you feel all too well. I used to do the same thing. If ever someone mentioned him i wouldnt say a thing, i'd just wait til they were done and try to change the subject. I know this sounds weird but in order to stop feeling bad i would try to speak to him. As if he was still alive. I was basically speaking to myself but it felt comforting that he might be listening. Maybe he was! Who knows. That way it became easier to speak about him. In order not to cry everytime someone mentioned him i would listen to songs (e.g Black Stone Cherry - Things my father said, Skillet - Say Goodbye, Yellowcard - View from Heaven, I miss you - Miley Cyrus, Wishin you were somehow here again - Phantom of the Opera, Skillet - Older i get) late at night. These songs would make me cry because i miss him so much and they would remind me of him. For me, it was like crying but in advance. It sounds really weird but it helped me. What you are going through is normal. In time you will be able to speak about him and all the things that used to depress you will make you smile. Try to celebrate the memories you have of him. He definately wouldnt want you to be upset over him. Especially if it used to make him happy. Imagine he is watching you right now. All he wants is for you to be happy. You can pm me anytime too if you want =]
