Couldn't find it elsewhere, so decided to post it.

For those of you who don't know, Dungeons and Dragons is a roleplaying game where the players are in an age where there are all kinds of monsters, in the past where they fought with swords and bows etc.

There is no particular aim to the game, but usually players try to gain more levels, and undergo great achievements, like killing an ancient dragon or some other ferocious beast, but what you want to do is almost entirely up to you.

The events and outcomes are decided by the Dungeon Master (DM), and the fate of the players is more or less within the hands of the DM. But he isn't entirely in control, it is mostly the players' actions which will determine their fate, and the possible actions are countless.

The real game has complex rules using dice to determine possibilities and outcomes, but because of their complexity, we will be using the DM to decide if a player fails or succeeds at a task.

The game will be played with a party (group of players) of 2-6 players, depending on how many want to play. Also it is possible to join in a game, and the DM will try to introduce the playerin a realistic way, for example making the party meet the player inside the game, if you know what i mean.

For the first game, i will be the DM and after that someone else can try if they want to.

I will post more info if there are enough people willing to play.

D & D is _seriouisly_ old school. It's currently in it's fourth re-invention, and ... like 30th year. Interestingly enough, the co-creator just recently past away. He was 61.

So, enough trivia; how do you plan on playing this game? There are pleanty of ways to play online... From using Skype and a whiteboard program to simulate the paper and pen experience of being in the same room together, to using the officially licenced software that does all the rolls and calculations for use and has some ... okay graphics.

What do you plan to use?

If you're planing on a play by post game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Play-by-post_role-playing_game), where there are no dice rolls and everything is decided by DM, ... well.... that's kinda taking the 'game' out of 'role-play game'. What you create there is a role play board with a fantasy theme, rather than a game.

Role play boards can be fun too, I'm just curious how you intend to play.

I have yet to decide if i will use dice or no, because i have no access to real dice but will try to see if there is any good online 'dice throwing software'

I don't think i will be using a whiteboard system, it souds complex, i think we will be playing a kind of play-by-post, but maybe with dice
