There are so many classic artists out there that you can (and should!) get into:

The Beach Boys (I highly recommend their album "The Greatest Hits")

Michael Jackson (if you're into the flash pop or pop/rock fusion)

Coldplay (last resort)

Journey (Don't go along with their new shit. Stay with albums like "Evolution", "Escape", "Frontiers" and a little bit of "Raised on Radio")

Rush (Go with their album "Moving Pictures" and get their live performance from Rio for the "Vapor Trails" tour)

Yes (GET THE ALBUM "Drama". You will NOT be disappointed if you're a proggist)

Genesis (if you really want to, stick to their older stuff. I highly recommend their albums "Nursery Cryme", "Tresspass", "Selling England By The Pound" and "Wind & Wuthering". If you want to be daring, go listen to "Invisible Touch" but ONLY if you like poppy stuff.)

The Beatles (Just like The Beach Boys. Classic band. Go with the "White" album and "1")

Elton John (No doubt, get the "Greatest Hits, 1970-2002". It's two discs and a GREAT compilation of his great songs. But disc two could have been better. Also go with "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road")

Ozzy Osbourne (Good for a metal fan)

Phil Collins (for a good Adult Contemporary listener)

Peter Gabriel (A good fusion of prog and world music. Definitely a must have artist)
