I got a new Mp4-player yesterday. It's a cool thing, but it won't play vids. No mp4, avi or wmv. I tried it all. But on the box they said that it would play MPG4 (.avi) and wmv.

I've got some .avi's on it now, and when I look in the video folder, everything is 0:00 minutes, and when I select one, it says: "Non-supported format detected. Use the Philips Media Converter to convert files to the device."

To install the Philips Media Converter, there was a CD with the mp4-player. But the CD only works with Windows and I don't have windows, I threw it away after I got KDE 4.1 or 4.2 (I don't remember wich one) and Ubuntu 9.04. Anyone who knows a way to make the video's work? :what:

Use Wine (http://www.winehq.org/) to install the media converter.

Well, as long as you can get Wine configured correctly its great. Although some programs I open in it just come up with blocks for letters everywhere. Its a great program though.
