Does counting the days you are SI free help you or does it just keep the topic fresh in your mind?

I've never been one to count days for things - apart from countdowns to holidays that is! So when I tried to keep count it actually just kept the thoughts of cutting alive.

Yes. It does that to me.
I hate counting days and I used to just post how many days I have gone without it and them crack that night. It just made me keep thinking about how many days I have done and how many days I can do now.
But now I just post then I somehow distract myself from it, forget it. Then when I want to post again I work it out all over etc.. :)

I don't like to count in the beginning, because if its just like, 3 days, its no big deal, but when I realize its been a while, I figure out and start counting up. Up to 67 now :)

Its not something that would help me as it would stay in my mind constinly (sp?) and it the only thing i'd think about till I do.

Now I'm on the 6th day. It feels like such a short period of time. But I know that when I'll get over 10, or 20, I'll be happy with every day. :]

I never counted the first time I stopped, never. I just stopped because I felt I had no choice. Now, I don't count it in pride how many days I haven't cut in, but how many days I've been deprived of relief. It's really quite pathetic.
Some people it helps, makes them feel proud. Others it keeps it fresh in their mind. It takes experimentation to find out what works for you.
