Okay, i dont know about everyone else in other states but all over Sedwick county in Kansas, the county is posting signs on EVERY corner saying "FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL IN THIS AREA - PUNISHABLE UP TO 1000 DOLLARS"
this is just another way for them to get their damn money, taking peoples right away to celebrate our freedom and independence. Today is the fourth so we'll see how many rebels get it and it will be all over the news.

On a scale of 1-10 rate how stupid this is please.

According to the Sedgwick County Fire Department-----

1. There is a sign in my neighborhood that says, "Fireworks are illegal in this community." When did they become illegal?

Fireworks have been illegal in unincorporated Sedgwick County since 1978, and and all fireworks in these areas are illegal to sell, possess, or shoot. The simplest way to understand the term "unincorporated" is, if you are not in the city limits of a city in Sedgwick County, then fireworks are definitely illegal. If you are within the city limits of a city, please check with that city to find out what their fireworks laws are.

2. Are fireworks legal in Sedgwick County?

Fireworks are illegal to sell, buy, possess or shoot in all unincorporated areas of Sedgwick County. In other words if you are in Sedgwick County but not within any of the various city limits, fireworks are illegal.

3. So I can sell, possess, or shoot fireworks in the different cities of Sedgwick County?

In some cities you can, in others they are still illegal. Check with the city in question to find out the regulations.

4. Can I sell or store Fireworks in a building?

If you are in a City in the Fire District that allows fireworks, the general answer is “no”. To sell or store fireworks in a building you must get prior approval from the Sedgwick County Fire Department.

5. What is the fine for possessing, selling, or shooting fireworks where they are illegal?

Fines can be as much as $1000 or more plus confiscation of fireworks.

6. Can I get a permit to shoot fireworks in Sedgwick County?

Yes you can, but you must be a State licensed fireworks display operator, provide liability insurance for the display, apply and pay for the permit and apply with all rules.

Under the permit there can be no shooting of fireworks by anybody but the licensed shooter unless the local city allows common fireworks.

(reffering to section one - perhaps fireworks have been illegal since 1978, but why are we JUST NOW enforcing it?)

Well laws are made for a reason.
Maybe your area has a history of fires or injuries.

It's the start of fire season here.
Personally, I don't want my house burnt down since I live next to the forest.
It's been so dry that my town decided not to have fireworks at the usual spot.
They're lighting them off in the middle of the lake this year as a precaution.
