thought about the fashion forum, then thought about a role playing forum. I mean there has to be some Roleplayers on here, so we need a place to roleplay.

soooo Can we have a roleplay forum?

Roleplay? What?
Roleplaying games? Like runescape and WoW? or something else I don't know about?

Yes please and roleplaying is like where pick characters and almost make a play or write a story.

I would use it, however, I think the main problem is that not many would. It's fun, but the problem is this: Role-play on forums is most often done based on the theme of the forums. Forums dedicated to a video game, for example, would normally have roleplaying based on that video game. It would be hard - especially with the limited amount of people who'd do it - to come up with an interesting RP story line that everyone enjoyed, because people coming here will have such diverse tastes.

And... a P101 RP would not be cool... :P

I'd totally do it because I'm really into that nerdy stuff, but like Rex pointed out, I doubt many other people here would be interested in it and it'd be difficult to create something to match most people's tastes.

What exactly are y'all talking about?

Let me Google that for you. (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Role+Playing) |:

This Article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Role-playing_game) would probably be more precise though.

I have a great role-playing website if you want me to give you the link. I don't think i'm allowed to post it.

Roleplaying is really quite simple. Everyone chooses some character to 'play', and everyone posts what their characters are doing or saying. Usually people don't RP in a real-life envirnoment, though it can happen, normally it's more environments like fantasy.

It's interesting, and surprisingly quite fun. It's one of the reasons I play World of Warcraft - the great RP oppurtunities.

Perseus

What's the point of acting it out on a forum? I understand real-life, but on a forum?

Mzor203
July 3rd, 2009, 11:48 PM
It gives you a chance to delve into a world of your choosing. It lets you get creative, and be someone else than yourself without worry.

Reason anyone does anything, in short: It's fun.

Yea, its ment to be fun i can show i link to an example of roleplaying on a forum.

MoveAlong

ooh! ok. Well that sounds fun. But I think that it would start out nicely as a diary, and then if it's popular, it could work its way up to a main forum.

I suppose some people would be interested. I wouldn't be, but that's just me.

I'm up for it

I've done roleplays on other forums and I really like them.

The roleplays had nothing to do with the theme of the forum though, and there was a thread to post ideas before you acutally made the RP.

I think it'd be cool but it's not up to me lol

Well i think it's funny and nerdy. xD

not against it, but not exactly for it either.

Well, kinda thinking now that I know some people are interested, maybe a diary is a good idea. If no one wants to, I would be happy to run, or help run one. :)

Roleplaying on these forums would be best under the same setting as the arcade, NO POST COUNT.

Simply because action roleplaying can go VERY fast and result in epic spam.
Example:
User1: *keeps my face hiden and tickles yew*
User1: *pokes you in teh belly and starts tickling back* D:
User2: hehe *wiggles free and hides behind a tree*
User1: *peeks around the tree* o.o
User2: *is sitting against the tree with my face hidden in my arms.*
User1: *pulls juur arms apart to see your face*
User2: *looks up at yew with tears in my eyes*
User1: *frowns and give you that big hug you wanted
User2: *leans against yew*
User1: *holds yew* ):
User2: *buries my face in yewr neck*
----------------------------------------------------------

That could be done in 3 minutes between two people, imagine one person actively involved in 5 or 6 individual action roleplaying forums? So if it is done post count has to be watched.

I agree, the forum I used to go on did that as well. No post count.

To clarify to some how an RP might start, here's an example from another forum I'm on.
This is a roleplay entitled: Uni Days.

You and your friends have moved you university where you share a large dorm with a living room, different sized room (varies on how many are taking part in this roleplay) and a couple of toilets. Now, you have the choice to pick what your character is like. Below is the form you need to fill in. If I think that it's not up to standards, I will reject it. Thanks and read the rules too.

RULES.
1. No killing other Characters
2. Don't control other members' characters.
3. Try to make sense.
4. No one-liners.

Fill out your characters profile.

Name: What is your character's name
Age: How old is your character
Gender: Boy or Girl?
Status: Are you royal, a peasant, or something else?
Home: Where is your character from?
Family: Who are you related to?
Weapon: Do you have a weapon?
Animal: Do you have some sort of pet?
Personality: What is your character like?
Appearance: What do you look like? Or picture (Description must be more than 6 lines.)
Other: Anything you wish to tell about your chracter.

Sadly a lot of RP amount to just that. But most good in depth RP set rules against such. Generally they require decent length posts, descriptive character bios, anti-sex rules, and such. Like in an RP two people may be allowed to have sex and have a child, but it would be a fast forward thing, not literally posted for sake of everyone having cyber in a thread. So while if not watched they can amount to such, it can be prevented and be used for more fun purposes.

What does post count have to do with this?

Most forums are strict on quote "spam" which in an area where post count applies then an RP game could be easily considered as spam.

Eh. Roleplaying is fun if you make a neat storyline, but when there's no storyline, it's just a bunch of people cybering each other and trying to be cute.

EverlostPoet
July 6th, 2009, 08:34 PM
well couldnt make a very good one but here goes nothing... CLick the banner in my siggy .

Ripplemagne
July 6th, 2009, 08:41 PM
It's not about the intro. Usually, roleplays like these have no actual storyline to work off of and get dull because everyone is sitting around with nothing to do, but grab each others' genitals.

Not putting you down or anything. It's just that they tend to die down quickly with no direction.

Besides, this rule excludes me:

Also, this is LITERATE, not ADVANCED-LITERATE. That means don't make page-long posts, please.

EverlostPoet
July 6th, 2009, 08:51 PM
well this one is more of a newbie one xD tomarrow my friend is gonna post a major one in my diary

Yeah. You guys are averaging about a sentence a post. My absolute minimum is two paragraphs. And that's rare.

Origami

The VT High is meant to be small and casual, a newbie RP. I'll be writing one tomorrow with a story behind it, also, it will not have that post limit attached to it so people can go as in depth as they want.
