I think that even if you did tell your parents (as awkward as that may be), most parents wouldn't really care. Most parents realize that almost everyone does (or has done) it. The exception may be some religious parents who believe it is "wrong" or "sinful" to masturbate. Otherwise, I would just keep it to myself in order to avoid some unnecessary awkwardness, because your mom probably wants to hear about you masturbating as much as you want to know about her sex life...
