View Full Version : Count On - Fibonacci

This is where you count on only you don't go in 1s, you use the fibonacci sequence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibonacci_number).
You basically add the previous 2 numbers together to get the next. Thus, you would have, 1,1,2,3,5,8,13 etc. Since you start with 2 1s, then 1+1=2, then 1+2=3, then 2+3=5, then 3+5=8, then 8+5=13 (ectetera) since we are adding the previous 2 numbers. What really interests me is how high we'll get!
Now, I'll start with the first 2 numbers of the sequence then would each succeeding person please post the next and so on:

196148!
DANG IT! .... that was supposed to be 196418 we're all off now. : (
We should have caught that. :(
Okay, here's how it should have went:
Post; Number
27; 196,418
28; 317,811
29; 514,229
30; 832,040
31; 1,346,269
32; 2,178,309
33; 3,524,578
34; 5,702,887
35; 9,227,465
36; 14,930,352
37; 24,157,817
38; 39,088,169
39; 63,245,986
40; 102,334,155
And since this should be post 40: the number is
One hundred and two million, three hundred and thiry-four thousand, one hundred and fifty-five.
EDIT: Dang, this thread's moving too fast for me. :(
Well, the next number in this series is 433,228,247
But if we follow the real series, the 43rd number should be 433,494,437
Real series: 165,580,141; 267,914,296; 433,494,437
so... however OP wants to continue.

53,316,291,173 hehe.... I'm sorta cheating.
I'm using an Excell spreadsheet and a formula so I know all the numbers up to # 200 .... after number 80 the end digits will always be zeros... so it's possible we could just add the numbers before the zeros and then just say "and seven zeros".... or something like that. :P
....course, you could all use the speadsheet instead of the calculator .... or pen and paper, but I prefer my geekier meathods. :)
