I don't know if it's been suggested before, but is there a way to make a limit on the width of signatures? I have a decent sized screen, but some sigs are so large that I have trouble reading posts.

indeed. I agree, limit it, because its very, how your say, annoying when somebody has fifty million pics and there life story included in there sig.

We could lower the character limit, but unless there's a MOD for it, phpBB doesn't have the ability to limit a signature's picture size. :|

i have cut mine down as i noticed it was pretty big before.

why cant we just disable the img tags in sigs, cutting pictures out would probably half the page and make it much more enjoyable for the lower speed people

no because alot of great sigs have images liek kiros, his has an image in it, i have images in mine, and i made those specificly for sigs, but reducing might be ok

so far this thread has 12 images and its not even that big

you go on 28.8 dialup and tell me if it loads at any kind of speed at all

It wouldn't much help the download speed because the content, CSS, and normal images (ranks, buttons, etc) still have to be downloaded. Also, avatars have to be downloaded as well.

If the signature pictures are big in file size, then they'll, alone, take a little more time to download, but users can still browse the pages while they are downloading.

If the picture is big in screen size, then ask the user to reduce the size or replace the image with a smaller one. If the user won't change it, ask an admin and one of us will look in to asking them to change it or, if it comes to it, change it for them.

i dont really mind so much big sigs as long as they are only big length ways but i hate sigs which are big width ways. so that you have to scroll over to read the post.

No sigs Greater then 500 Pixels tall (Wide) And 700 pixels long. That is deffinitley big enough and can make a self portrait with a 500x700 :P

Alex, his signature wasn't really that bad, however, yours is a little on the lengthy side. You should scale them both down or just use one image.

Btw the one with your name with the japanese anime guy with grey hair looks really cool if you take it, duplicate the layer change it to overlay, bright his hair, darken the dges, and specifically overlay the text again and brighting the area around it.. i messed with it a bit.

Eh, I liked the one with Samus in it. Anyway, remeber that pictures are not signatures, however, signatures can have pictures in them - though they should not be large ;)

I'm on a 56k, and the immage size isn't a terrible problem.

I'm just worried about the width. I don't want to single any one person out, but when I have to go down to a scroll bar on the bottom of the screen, and have to scroll back and forth to read a line, it gets anoying.
