I hear them calling my name
Just after three twenty-three A.M.;
Its like a merry-go-round of sound,
It keeps echoing, it keeps echoing
Hopping off the walls around me!
Now this ain't cause for applause,
I ain't really done much,
I ain't really done anything, anything at all,
And I don't even know why I'm here, or what they're clapping for!
I stand in the center of my very own home,
A spotlight on me, like 'I'm the one,'
And there are people around me, that I don't even know,
And they're tossin' flowers at me like I done
Something amazing, something out of this world!
But this ain't cause for applause,
I ain't really done much,
I ain't really done anything, anything at all,
And I don't even know why I'm here, or what they're clapping for!
Why won't they stop? They keep calling my name,
Like I'm suddenly famous, but I'm just confused
And I don't know the hot list, from the lame list!
Now this ain't cause for applause,
I ain't really done much,
I ain't really done anything, anything at all,
And I don't even know why I'm here, or what they're clapping for!
In my green and blue, striped pajamas
I prance around like a wounded llama,
And I keep on hearing my name!
And they keep on clapping
And the sound keeps staying the same (echoing, echoing).
Its a merry-go-round of sound all around me,
And I don't know how to make it stop!
I didn't do nothing worth acknowledging
And now I've got my own, following!
But this ain't cause for applause
I ain't really done much,
I ain't really done anything, anything at all
And I don't even know why I'm here, or what they're clapping for!
What are they clapping for?
Why the hell do they want more?
What did I do to get this far?
I'd much prefer to sleep alone...
