Whos excited about the next Harry Potter film coming July 15th, I know I am.
I read the book through and got stuck to it, all the Harry Potters have got better and better since the first one. So are you guys n gals excited about it? What are your opinions on the book and first thoughts on the film by seeing the trailor?

Parts of these films are actually filmed in my town!

I'm going to see this but don't really hold out much hope for it tbh.
The first two films were good and really in line with the books.
But as time's progressed the films have departed more and more from the books. It leads to a disappointing end result.

Meh i love the movies.... after seeing order of the phoenix a few times i understood exactly why the director did what he did.. and the disappointment turned into appreciation...

i'm sure the director will do what's best for the movie to evoke the right reaction from the audience... and seriously it's impossible to adapt a book of 700 pages into a decent length movie and keep EVERYTHING....

i love HP :D

As films, they are good.

But they will never beat the books!

I have to be honest, I never read the books. I thought they were terrible a waste of time, until I saw the movies! Then all I waited for was Harry potter movies, but now I guess Im sort of excited just not on my top list of things to do.

Maybe. I'm not so keen on going to the theater anymore. Too expensive and I always have to have the annoying fan boy/girl right next to me trying to communicate with the movie screen. I'd actually like to see "Equus" than HP, only because I think I've started to lose interest in the movies and would love to see DR acting in a different role.

I've started to re-read all of the books and I'm currently on the third one. I agree with Sapphire that the first two movies kicked major ass, but as time went on, the movies strayed away from the books, which is very dissappointing to me.

How can they! The books are huge, and they can't fit it all into a 2-3 hour movie... That is just crazy to think anyone could.

ANYWAYS!!!! I AM SO EXCITED! i am going to the midnight premier and stuff. It kinda sucks tho, the actors are going to be HELLA old when the 7th movie comes out...

Well Radcliffe is going to be in his 20s by the time the 6th movie is out in theaters and he'll probably be 21 or near that age when the final movie comes out.

harry potter = best thing ever. the books are always gonna be better than the films but the director/directors have done good work on the films, granting them a little artistic licence. i mean order of the phoenix has like 756 pages(proablly wrong number of pages), but they made a good film, there were errors, and there was a focus on action, but thats to be expected, and it didn't extract from the experience. my favourite book is either goblet of fire or deathly hallows. midnight showing of the half blood prince here i come!!!!!!

I can't freaking wait! I got my tickets for the midnight premiere already! :yeah:

The books are amazing and there's no way the movies can match up to them, obviously but I completely disagree with the people saying that the movies are getting worse. First off, Order of the Phoenix is definitely the best movie so far. People seem to forget that being the best movie and being the best adaptation are two completely different things. Sure OotP left a lot out but it stuck to the main story line of the 5th book, which was Harry feeling really distant from everyone and blah blah blah. The movie had the perfect feel of the book. I would've loved if they had some of the sub-plots and kept some of the little things in there but they didn't and I can live with that. I thought they did a lot of awesome things with OotP, like Umbridge, Luna, and the possession scene. Gawd, that scene was sooo good. It was very emotional and Dan acted it out brilliantly. The "you'll never know love or friendship and I feel sorry for you" line and the "You're a fool and you will lose everything" line was just awesome. The writing and acting in that scene was amazing. My favorite scene so far out of all the movies. That brings me to another point, OotP definitely, without a doubt, had the best acting out of the other movies. Now even though Chamber of Secrets was the most loyal to the books, it was the worst movie out of the series, I love it to pieces but it is way too long. The acting was the worse from the younger cast, I will excuse them though because they were only kids. The writing is kind of blah, and it's just way too kid-friendly, which was all fine and dandy when I was a kid but I'm not anymore. So I know I'm probably in the minority here but I definitely think the movies are getting better.

I get upset when people say Harry Potter is for kids. The people that say that have obviously never read the books. I would say HP is more for teens ans young adults. If you ask me I'd say the storyline gets way to dark for kids.

There was a debate about this a while ago and I think the result was that the books were printed with "adult friendly" covers.

I don't think you can really put an age on entertainment, if you enjoy it, then you should watch/read it :) .

I will be seeing the new film when it comes out, purely because I have seen all the others and not read the books so would like to know what happens next :)

I am so excited :). Ive read all the books at least 2 times and i read the 7th book 4 times. It was pg but I think they might have changed the rating because now its pg-13. looks good. The 6th book was really confusing but it was good.

I absolutely fucking hate Harry Potter, lolol.
Even though I am probably going to see this with my sister - and take the piss all the way through it.

I'll admit, the first few movies were good but since then they've gone downhill. That's what happens when you try to make a movie out of a hugeass novel. Although all of LOTR movies were fantastic IMO. I'll bet you $50 that people will come out of the cinema complaining about how much this Harry Potter movie was such a disappointment and hadn't lived up to these expectations...

you are right when you say that all the hardcore potter fans will come out of the cinema and moan about it, as will people who have the read the books. i find the best way to enjoy them now, having just finished watching the goblet of fire, is to not link them to the books at all, just enjoy them as their own films. still excited . and the goblet of fire is good, daniel radcliffes hair is lol

Book purists annoy the shit out of me. Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets were the worst movies out of the series. You just can't put everything in a movie, their love for the books are blinding them. They want all the little things that they loved in the book to be in the movie and that can't happen because there's a thing called pacing. They don't know what it takes to make a good movie. Prisoner of Azkaban and Order Of The Phoenix were the best movies, period. I'm a huge fan of the books too but I know that you can't go in thinking the movie is going to have all the details in it. They put in the MOST IMPORTANT details and that's all that matters.

the only disappointment to me was the 4th, it could of been better. BUT i loved the rest.
And this one looks exceptionally good :)

looking forward.

agrred, i don;t think the 4th is that bad though. @untamedwolf - your top sig thing is so epic, its the wolf from okami, which is like best game on ps2/wii.(off topic slightly) watching order of the phoenix. i think this is the 2nd best of the films currently

Her original target range was young adults- adults.

Can't wait.

5th film wasn't good as i remembered(this was only like the 3rd time id seen it), it looksed fantastic(on blu ray) and it wasn't like bad, but it felt like it was full of un-needed action and comedy sequences. like the part near the end at the archway. 3/5. funnily enough, i just finished the 5th one too. onto the half blood prince
