Okay for all you extreme sports , trigger happy people.
My favourite debate.
Which is better Airsoft or Paintball.
I think airsoft is better as it is cheaper (for me) and more painful (therefore induces more adrenaline), you get faster shooting guns and also more realistic guns. Paintball takes no skills, just aiming where as airsoft you need tactics/

Whadya mean?
I personally like Airsoft more 'cause it's cheaper and more 'clean' (no paint)
Except that paintballs hurt more...

Airsoft when i played , one game was ALL DAY, you died. got respawned. And airsoft hurts more coz you get hit a lot more, plus cool grenades

Oh, i was talking about single shots...
I still don't get the part about paintball you only need to shoot.... Aren't the two games supposed to be quite the same?

What the hell do you mean, no tactics? Have you ever played paintball? I guess you've never played in places like this:

I played skirmish games, 1 shot your out. Whereas airsoft we had like 3 life tag etc.
Also in airsoft you have differnt guns, support weapons and snipers whereas in paintball they are all basically the same guns/.

But with them you can't actually do a rematch...:P

If I -really- wanted to deal with somebody, there'd be no need for a rematch. ^_^
I don't actually get anything out of shooting a guy with small pellets or balls of paint. They don't just fall down in a truly satisfying matter and the gun itself doesn't feel powerful for me. I would only ever shoot at a living being if I thought I was in mortal danger. For me, I just get a rush out of holding an real, dangerous weapon in my hands and feeling the kickback of every shot as I pick off a few inanimate targets. It's the noise and feeling that do it for me, I've never really cared for competition.

Thats not tactics thats like a real life computer game..
Its far more tactical trying to be smart enough not to die in simulation..

Well in airsoft we flank the enemy, we play on huge 1000 acre game sites, and stuff like that. Where as paintball its like 1/2 an acre, and the games last like 5 minutes

i like them both but recently i've gotten more into airsoft mainly becuase it is more like a real simulation instead of a dirty field sport and i agree with Silkonia about airsoft hurting more, if you've been hit by a systema you know what i mean. although i'd say paintball is less expensive.

I pay like £30 max for airsoft! Coz i dont use grenades, when i last went paintball it cost £54, the bullets are so much more expensive , its £6 for 100, at airsoft its £10 for 3700

Well if you want real Quality airsoft and paintball guns you shouldn't be afraid to pay high prices for them. My marui AK47beta cost me around $500 after all the upgrades, i also only buy premium BB's which are $15 per 4000round bag. I still enjoy airsoft more because the guns are more reliable last longer and break less, not as messy, more room to use real military tactics and the ammunition is more compact and lasts for ever(paintballs will waste away over time).

yeah shooting with little plastic guns that shoot out plastic bb's takes a lot of skill:lol: those gun's are little wanna be's to where paint ball gun's are for games and not impersonating real gun's.Also paintball gun course's rule way better then air soft :P

At the paintball place i went. Headshots didnt count. Thats reallly good isnt it, just pop your head up and watch your enemies move and tell your team about. airsoft, whoole body counts. And gun hits count too as they would disable your gun and therefore unless you have a pistol your dead

That sounds cool, like if you're shot and it hits the gun, you're helpless unless you find another gun to use?
I HAVE to take up airsoft... XD

They should find a way to include hand to hand in airsoft (hitting them with your gun, arm locks etc.) but make them safe
Project Delta
July 4th, 2009, 03:33 AM
Its a no contact sport. But knives are allowed (plastic ones ofc.) or tapping them and saying "Bang your dead" instead of loading them with a few rounds from 1 m away
tapping and saying "Knife" counts as a knife kill

IMO I think airsoft is more real but paint ball hurts a lot more and its more fun.
I play airsoft a lot and it is awesome because the gun look so real but not so much with paintball.

Airsoft? I think i've heard of it, where I live we have Island Recon which is airsoft I think, my friend told me about it and judging from the description of airsoft it's very similar.
I havent played paintball either but paintball looks and sounds more fun.
Also where I live there is Headhunters, better known to you as plastic guns that shoot infared lazers.
Considered having a poll?

Plastic guns and plastic pellets. It hurts if you get hit up close or a lot but its fun and you have to wear eye protection thats it.

fps are the 'bullets' rite?
FPS are the speeds of the bullets usually at about 350 FPS for rifles and up to 500 for snipers.
compare that to paintball which fire at a much delayed speed of 280 fps, which can make the difference. 350 fps is still a safe shot and would never leave perm marks.
I am a active airsoft player and a marshall at a paintball site and airsoft I find is much more realistic and not as mucky.
It's also much cheaper!

Yeah well in america its 500fps for all weapons D= and 350 will make you bleed at 10 m

I live in america and its rare to play games with 500fps guns but I have done it. I was shot with a systema ptw at 550fps from point blank range and it went through my jacket, shirt and dug into my arm I have tons of scars all over my body and all of them are from airsoft. paintball has only left bruises and non-permanent scars. BTW not all airsoft guns are cheap and plastic go to airsoft gi to see some real airsoft guns.

Airsoft is better, more realistic, and better looking guns. Paintball is just 5 minute games on a 20 meter field, with boring looking guns.

Never had an issue with bleeding with guns up to 370 and thats being shot in the face. The usual rule is under 15/10M switch to semi auto.
Only time I've bled properly was some (insert insult here) with a semi automatic sniper going at 470 fps hit me in the face at no more than 15 M when the engagement is 25M.
I can see the attraction to paintball however I enjoy realism so airsoft wins my heart every time.

i like both, but paintball seems more of a rush especially because in most games you only get one chance at it…
But airsoft is more relaxed (I used to play it at a friends house while it was on construction so it was a bog open space.) both hurt me and at get my blood rushing without actually killing people so, i say both are really good.

Paintball can usually be a lot faster paced and the games are usually much shorter. As I said earlier I work at a paintball site now for Saturdays and I see why there done so fast paced, more money. We sell paint pots by 100 paints for £10. You can fit 200 in a hopper and 400 on a battle belt.
Usually we make the games much faster and much shorter so they use more paint up thus making my boss very happy.
Airsoft is different in the UK you can get 3000 high quality bbs for about £5-7 now I usually go through no more than 2000 rounds or 6000 when using my m249 which means the cost is much cheaper than paintball.

I go with airsoft because-
Less scars from being shot
Cheap guns but good guns
Realistic
And fun as hell

i love airsoft, more than paintball. with paintball, it's messy expensive, and dumb because it's just a bunch of teenage boys yelling, shooting paint, and and holding dumb looking guns all the time. where as with airsoft, it's less expensive, more realistic, and not as messy because of the ammunition the guns fire. also there is a more broad group of players in airsoft.
