Im a very big gamer myself, and the other day, i was playing a game, it was rated R16, but it had words in it that arent even alloweed to be on TV, And i saw a little kid getting the same game when i was renting it, And when i played it i was just thinking WOW they shouldent say things like that, So im thinking, should the "Ratings" be changed, or should parents just have more say in the games there kids play?

I don't want my freedoms taken away at any age down with ratings.

Ya i think that the parents should be resonseble enough to know wether or not their kid should be able to play video games with exsplicet material. Personly my parents could care less.

Weelllllll, when I was at the game store the other week, i saw a kid, not even 8 years old, having his mother buy him Grand Theft Auto:San Andreas. I mean, What the HELL is that about? His mother can see for god sake, can't she see IT IS A VIOLENT GAME MEANT FOR ADULTS AND NOT CHILDREN! FOR GOD SAKE PARENTS GET SOME CONTROL, he's probably some spoilt little shit who gets everything he wants. Since this is the case, why the hell can't i go buy GTA:SA? I'm 13, i know what sex is, I have a gun of my own, i hear swearing words every 5 minutes from my parents, yet for some reason, they hold it back. The age rating is bullshit, but kids like him should not be even allowed to pick them things up, he'll be sitting there playing the hot coffee game right now thinking "What are they doing?"
I think i've said enough

I think that parents should be more responsible with what they let their kids play.
8 year olds should not be playing violent games, because they're still at an age where they find it difficult to distinguish fantasy from reality.
I know for a fact that GTA:SA has an effect on the mind. After playing it, I have an urge to ram random cars if I have to go anywhere during the day.
Bloody good thing I'm never getting a driver's license. :P
My sister has the same issue. Not that we'd actually do it, but the urge is there.

Well, its not like the kids nowadays never heard these words before. But i do think the parents should be more cautious.

I don't feel that kids should be allowed to buy or rent violent games without parental consent and presence at the time of sale.
Of course, I also think that people should have IQ and general common sense tests before being allowed to breed.

It may not have affected many people but in the world we live in now, kids have alot more access to dangerous things and have less common sense, And games like GTA, Twisted Metal and Mortal Kombat show them that killing and destroying is the way to deal with everything

Are you directing that comment at me? B/C yes i do beleve that yes GTA has not adversly affected me. As for what dual-phoenix said, i think that you are ignorant, and don't know what your saying. B/C what kind of kid plays a video game and then beleves that destroying is the way to deal with everything.

I prefer my governement democratic, my socks wool, and my violence simulated. I'd rather kids played violent vidoe games instead of going to cockfights, or gladitorial blood sports. You think the romans had an age limit at the coloseum? Heck no. Until 100 years ago executions were public and attended by children (of all ages.) In fact, if you were a servant 200 years ago, you could be compelled to attend public executions. It was considered good for moral fiber. Venders sold snacks so you wouldn't have to watch grim death on an empty stomach. Give me violent video games any day.
In the days of Henry VIII of england, your chances of being executed as a felon were better then your chance of being killed in a car accident today.

Im ignorant am i, What about those 2 guys a while back, They played doom alot and they were about 13, They went on a killing spree at there school and then shot themselves, Im not saying every kid that plays these games is going to pick up a rifle and kill everyone, im just saying that one day, One kid just mite do sumthing crazy like that

Duel Phoenix refers to Columbine, and they were 17 and 18. It wasn't the video games that led to their violent outburst. What happened was that their parents kept telling them they were wonderful, princes. They did everything to boost their self esteem. Well, their classmates pointed out that they were in fact loosers. Well the truth hurts, they thought, HOW DARE they call us loosers. We are better then any one else. They must die for telling us we're no good. Over inflated self esteem often leads to violence. People should be told they are what they are, and not some sort of golden gods.

There's no statistical evidence that confirms the negative effects of video game violence in society.
I can understand that certain people wouldn't like their young children exposed to certain images and ideas, if you're one of those people you should take responsibilty for what your child and what you want him to play.
The majority of people who've grown up playing violent video games have turned out pretty normal.... it's just the rare wanker that snaps and goes about emulating Doom...
Then again.... I've compeltely modled myself around 2d fighting games and pacman.... hmmmm..... maybe video games ARE bad for you ._.
