Michael Jackson taken to hospital

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/45973000/jpg/_45973237_jack_afp226b.jpg

Pop star Michael Jackson has been rushed to hospital in Los Angeles with a suspected cardiac arrest.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the 50-year-old singer was not breathing when paramedics arrived at his home.

The paramedics performed CPR and took him to the UCLA medical centre, the newspaper says. Officials would not confirm if the CPR was successful.

The star was due to begin a series of comeback concerts with an appearance at London's O2 arena on 13 July.

He has a history of health problems and has not completed a concert tour in 12 years.

Michael Jackson's home is off Sunset Boulevard in Bel Air.

Yup, he's dead.

Michael Jackson has died in hospital after suffering a suspected heart attack, website TMZ has reported.

Jackson, 50, suffered a heart attack just after 12.00pm local time (19.00pm GMT) and paramedics were unable to revive him, TMZ.com (http://www.tmz.com/)said.
When paramedics arrived at his house he was not breathing, LA fire department captain Steve Ruda told the LA Times newspaper.
Jackson was given CPR by fire department paramedics as he was taken to UCLA Medical Center, the LA Times said.
Jackson's manager was not immediately available for comment.
Officials at UCLA Medical Center where Jackson was treated could also not be reached for comment.
The 911 call came in at 8.21pm from his Holmbly Hills home in LA, according to the TMZ.

I don't care what anyone thinks, in his day he was fucking amazing. R.I.P MJ.

NBC News, The LA Times, and TMZ.com have confirmed he's dead. I honestly couldn't find any better sources than these three, because they usually have very credible sources themselves. Even if he's still in a coma, there isn't much of a chance that he's going to make it. Over the past 4 years, we've seen Michael become very frail. He's almost like a stick it seems. He's had so much plastic surgery it looks as if he's a ghoul.

If he does somehow make it out the coma, if he is still in one, then it will be nothing short of a miracle due to his health. If his is dead, which I have a strong feeling towards, then I give all my condolances to his family, especially his mother and father.

@ForeverYours - No one can realy prove he did it, except the children. You don't really know if those who accused him of molestation were lying. I honestly think that he did do it, but I still have doubts about the accusers because some of their stories just didn't add up.

Hey some people just joke to get rid of their pain.

We all have our way of dealing with death.

All jokes aside, MJ was really good with his music.

It is too bad that he was a pedophile and that is what he will remembered for that instead of his music.

Well MJ rest in peace.

I'll remember him in two ways: 1. For his leading in the pop frontier during the 80s. 2. For his 2005 trial. I think that most people will remember him for the 2nd reason and not the first one. The man sold 50,000,000 copies of "Thriller" and it's STILL the top selling album of all time.

EDIT: Yes Andy, I know that. But the man has just died and there should be no excuse to joke at this time. I can understand that joking around like that is nothing more than innocent fun, but if it's directed to somebody who just died, that's just wrong.

LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson, defined in equal parts as the world's greatest entertainer and perhaps its most enigmatic figure, was about to attempt one of the greatest comebacks of all time. Then his life was cut shockingly — and so far, mysteriously — short.

The 50-year-old musical superstar died Thursday, just as he was preparing for what would be a series of 50 concerts starting July 13 at London's famed 02 arena. Jackson had been spending hours and hours toiling with a team of dancers for a performance he and his fans hoped would restore his tarnished legacy to its proper place in pop.

An autopsy was planned for Friday, though results were not likely to be final until toxicology tests could be completed, a process that takes several days and sometimes weeks. Police said they were investigating, standard procedure in high-profile cases.

Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center after being stricken at his rented home in the posh Los Angeles neighborhood of Holmby Hills. Paramedics tried to resuscitate him at his home for nearly three-quarters of an hour, then rushed him to the hospital, where doctors continued to work on him.

"It is believed he suffered cardiac arrest in his home. However, the cause of his death is unknown until results of the autopsy are known," his brother Jermaine said.

Pain killers is what Fox News has been saying. The family is apparently reporting that he did take drugs and that he was injected with a great amount of morphine before he died. He was addicted to pain meds so it seems, and I'm not surprised if he went into cardiac arrest. It really struck me that he died so young. Sure, 50 is an old age, but when you die at 50, you're still pretty young to die.

I find it atrocious that they let Jermaine confirm that his brother died. He looked as if he would break down right on the podium.

I don't care if you liked/disliked Michael Jackson for a personal reason, all musicians have suffered a loss of one of the greatest entertainers of all time. It is always sad to see someone go, especially one whose had an impressive career like he's had.

To everyone who is glad that Michael Jackson is dead, I ask you this. If I came to one of your loved one's funerals and made jokes about their mistakes in life, are you going to laugh too? I didn't think it would effect me this much. He was truly an amazing entertainer and person, I don't care what anyone says.

It's absolutely disgusting how people started cracking jokes about it when he hadn't even been dead for a day. People need to learn respect. I don't care if you think he did do it or not, it's still really rude, immature, and heartless to say crap about a man that just died. Some people just weren't raised right at all...

RIP King Of Pop.

....and in the time this topic has been going on, there have been another 10,000 deaths in the world. Yet life goes on.

I agree...I couldn't care less about Michael Jackson's death. My aunt passed away this Thursday (same day as Jackson, only before he did, I think) at about 3:30 am. It was so unexpected and quick. I spent about 15 hours in the ICU at the hospital. I couldn't give two shits about Michael Jackson now...

MJ had it coming, he did a lot of drugs and all sorts of crap. He had so much done to him he is white when he used to be black and im sorry but he looked like a girl. He really deserved to die, not for the way he looks, but for what he did.
He molested little boys(he denied it, but it is true and we all know that).
Yes his music was good, in fact it is great, and he was an awesome dancer. but I think the wrongs he has done outweighs the rights that he has done.
Frankly I wasn't surprised that he died and even if i was I think he really deserved it.

Those drugs were painkillers that you can't go into a shop and buy. A doctor must have subscribed them to him. When he had those painkillers, he got addicted. I think that's more the doctors fault.

He's now white when he used to be black because he had Vitilago and Lupus. He was diagnosed with both of these. We know that he had them because of how he looked and how he gradually began to go paler.

He was accused of molesting a 13 year old boy by a 13 year old boy who said "If I go through with this, I win big-time. There's no way I lose. I will get everything I want and they will be destroyed forever...Michael's career will be over." Honestly, this is bullshit.

That boy's father then tried to sort out the issue with Michael Jackson, asking for money. You can tell how much of a lie this whole thing is.

He did have sleepovers with some children, which I agree, was odd... but that doesn't mean anything sexual happened. You have to remember, too, that Michael Jackson had grown up in a world far from normality. He had been very famous since the age of 6, and always had the pressure to live up to expectations from his fans. He didn't live a normal life, then didn't grow up to be a normal person. He did say himself that, if he knew the person, he wouldn't mind them sleeping in the same bed as his children.

This quote describes all I can say about Kodie's "joke."

The answer is no. You're going to be extremely upset, so I please ask you show respect for the deceased, even if you didn't like him.

I'm not glad hes dead nor did I ever say anything of the sort
You my friend are jumping to conclusions; a dangerous and slippery slope.
I just don't care that he did die, he lived a very fulfilling and pampered life he died when he was 50. I personally know of allot of people who can't boast of having the luck of such a long and enjoyable run.
Everyone dies, you, me, MJ. There are no exceptions.

Hell I know a kid that was cut in half literally sliced clean in half by a CN train he was 18yrs old
He died less then a month after he lost his dad leaving his mum and little brother
In a town of under 800 people it hit hard
Something like that upsets me

a millionaire who died at 50? accusations of child molestation aside which hit very close to home for me anyway. I Just honestly don't care, not upset about it, but nor am I happy for it.

What I do find funny is a nation that condemned him and all the millions that attacked him and treated him like crap are suddenly overwhelmed and stricken with grief
That I find sickening, they don't care about him they're just lying to try and convince themselves and fool others into thinking they're what society considers a "moral" person

I agree MJ has done allot in his career
But all the major and moving contributions like the music video for thriller which is one of the longest music videos of all time and borke all these other records etc...
are long past

and to answer your question a few simple jokes online are FAR from me showing up at his funeral and slamming him
and i'll say what i wish i'm not breaking any rules
if you don't want to read my posts skip over them or put me on your ignore list

Most people didn't attack MJ. And besides, anyone dying, will have an effect on most. Even the people who "hated" him. Or shall I say people who believed the rumours and knew nothing of their background. No matter who it is, every death is a sad one.

RIP Michael =( Ok I read a lot of shitty posts ...

Now this is what i have to say ... IT IS NOT OUR JOB TO JUDGE PEOPLE ! Thats is GOD's job ... (please do not say that GOD doesnt exist or crap like that) anyways ... MJ did also a lot of charity and stuff and yeah maybe he did some very WRONG actions BUT MAN ! EVERYBODY makes mistakes and thats why it is not our job to judge because we also make mistakes cause maybe in a few years we would do all the so "allegated" wrong things he did ... and let dead people rest in peace ... I dont think anyone of us would be happy to know that all the people are balming us and such for myabe things we didn't do ... So it is better if all of us remain neutral ....

UP THERE, THERE IS A GOD THAT JUDGES, FORGIVES AND SANCTIONS ALL OF OUR ACTIONS .... GOOD AND BAD.

RIP Michale May You rest in Peace ... also (everybody is a sinner) May your sins be forgiven by the Good Lord ... Ammen

And yes I am a Christian-Catholic

Michael Jackson death still unsolved after autopsy
Reuters, Jun 27, 2009 3:00 am PDT

Doctors conducted an autopsy on the body of Michael Jackson on Friday but could not immediately determine what killed the "King of Pop," amid reports he had been injected with a narcotic painkiller shortly before collapsing.Jackson was in full cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived at his rented mansion in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon, with his personal physician trying desperately to revive him.
The 50-year-old pop superstar was rushed to nearby UCLA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead without regaining consciousness.
"The cause of death (determination) has been deferred, which means that the medical examiner has ordered additional testing such as toxicology and other studies," Los Angeles County Coroner's spokesman Craig Harvey said. "Those tests we anticipate will take an additional four to six weeks."
Speaking to a throng of reporters outside the coroner's office, Harvey said, "There was no indication of any external trauma or indication of foul play to the body of Mr. Jackson."
Police said they were seeking to question Jackson's personal physician, identified by news media as Houston-based cardiologist Dr. Conrad Murray.
Jackson's body will be released to family members after they choose a mortuary for funeral arrangements, Harvey said. There was no immediate word on when he would be laid to rest.
Celebrity website TMZ.com, citing an interview with an unidentified "close member" of the Jackson family, reported the entertainer was injected with Demerol about half an hour before he went into cardiac arrest.
DAILY SHOT OF DEMEROL?
TMZ, citing family members, said Jackson received a daily shot of Demerol, a narcotic painkiller, and that the family believed his death was caused by an overdose of the drug.
Detectives searched Jackson's home and impounded Murray's Mercedes from the driveway, saying it might contain evidence.
An unidentified man called a 911 emergency phone line from the mansion at 12:21 p.m. local time, saying Jackson was unconscious and not breathing.
In excerpts from the call released by authorities, the caller said the physician was the only other person present and was frantically performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the unconscious Jackson without results.
"He's pumping, he's pumping his chest but he's not responding to anything, sir, please," the man said.
A senior law enforcement official told ABC News that Jackson was "heavily addicted" to the painkiller Oxycontin and was injected daily with that medication, along with Demerol.
Lawyer Brian Oxman, a Jackson family spokesman, told CBS' "The Early Show" he had been concerned about the prescription drugs Jackson took due to injuries suffered while performing.
"I do not want to point fingers at anyone because I want to hear what the toxicology report says and the coroner says but the plain fact of the matter is that Michael Jackson had prescription drugs at his disposal at all times," Oxman said.
Fans and fellow pop stars revived memories of Jackson's musical genius, tarnished over the past decade by accusations of child molestation and eccentric behavior.
U.S. President Barack Obama called Jackson a "spectacular performer" but said he believed aspects of his life were "sad and tragic," the White House said.
FANS PAY TRIBUTE
Jackson's death was front-page news around the world as airwaves filled with his greatest hits from "Thriller" to "Billie Jean" and social networking sites were bombarded with messages and tributes.
"My heart, my mind are broken," actress Elizabeth Taylor, long a close friend of Jackson, said in a statement.
"He will be in my heart forever but it's not enough," Taylor said. "My life feels so empty. I don't think anyone knew how much we loved each other."
On Hollywood Boulevard, police put up barricades to control thousands of fans who filed past Jackson's star on the Walk of Fame to honor the child prodigy who became one of the top singers of all time with an estimated 750 million albums sold.
About 50 people danced to such Jackson hits as "Rock with You" and "Beat It" in New York's Washington Square. When "Thriller" played, the crowd formed into lines to imitate the moves from Jackson's ground-breaking video for the song.
Facing a battered reputation and a mountain of debt that The Wall Street Journal reported ran to $500 million, Jackson spent the last two months rehearsing for a series of London concerts, including Wednesday in Los Angeles.
Despite reports of Jackson's ill health, the promoters of the London shows, AEG Live, said in March that Jackson passed a 4 1/2-hour physical examination with independent doctors.
TMZ reported it was AEG that had retained Murray.
In death, Jackson's music enjoyed an immediate rebound that eluded him for years. His songs surged to the top 15 on online retailer Amazon.com's best-selling albums within hours.
He dominated the charts in the 1980s and was one of the most successful entertainers, with 13 Grammy Awards and several seminal music videos. His 1982 album "Thriller" yielded seven top-10 singles.
But he was twice accused of molesting young boys and was charged in 2003 with child sexual abuse. He was acquitted of all charges in a four-month trial in 2005.

People are heartless.
He is a person. Making jokes about him dying isn't something that should be done.
I can't think of any other celebrity that has died and people make jokes about their death. So I think that it is both wrong and low. Moreso wrong and low because people say they don't care and "its good that he died, no more kids being molested". Its just...ugh.
Like all celebrities MJ had a very...interesting life. But that is no reason to make fun of him. The guy is dead. Just leave him alone.

On a side note, I read that the autopsy confirmed that he didnt die from a heart attack...so I think his doctor screwed him up lots and that guy should be sued for malpractice :D (if hes found to have had a role in the death)

When Farrah Faucet died and went to heaven, God asked her what her one wish was. She said "I wish all the children would be saved!" The next day, God saved the children.

Since Michael Jackson was about 95% plastic, they decided to melt him down and make him into legos. That way, kids could play with him for a change.

Micheal Jackson was seriously the first and last person that I have idolized. I would watch his music videos and try my best to recreate his dance moves, I would sing along to almost all of his songs, and I would try and find any kind of tape with him on it. I never believed any of the allegations that were put against him and when he was acquitted I proudly rubbed it in the faces of those who thought he was guilty. Sadly though on my 19th birthday he died and it hurt. I refused to believe it at first and I didn't cry but still it hurts to know that he was taken so quickly from us. He was, is, and will always be the King of Pop, and my Idol. RIP Michael Jackson.

Another thing, just because I joke about somebody, doesn't mean I don't respect them. They might be distasteful jokes, but do you think I made them up? No, I heard them from somebody else. O.J. was also acquitted and his bad things heavily out weigh the good. He's really no comparison to Michael Jackson. Micheal Jackson was more than a great musician he was great humanitarian. He was listed in the 2000 edition of the Guiness Book Of World Records for breaking the world record for the "Most Charities Supported By a Pop Star". It states that Michael Jackson has supported 39 charity organizations either with monetary donations through sponsorships of their projects or by participating in their silent auction.

I'm hoping they repeat the funeral. I was doing a bunch of service with my parish's youth group and we played laser tag. I completely forgot about the funeral and caught a few clips on the TV while watching the news. It was very emotional when his daughter got up to the podium to speak. I found it great that most of the Jackson family was up there with her. I think that helped her a lot. Hearing her words...I had a small smidge of a tear in my eye. Thinking that he won't be there for all those landmark moments in her life like her first date, her proms, her wedding. But seeing that she took the courage to stand in front of 19,000 people to speak about her father, a little 7 year old girl, that's pretty outstanding in my book. Kudos to her.

I just wanted to ask a question. After seeing the video and pictures of the stage for the upcoming tour he was about to do; was Michael's casket put in front of that stage? Because it looked exactly like the stage I saw in the rehearsal video. I'm a bit irked that they aren't going to bury him at Neverland just yet. If you think about it, Michael put all his money into that. It was his childhood; a childhood that was stolen by his father. It was where he wrote most of his songs (most notably, "We Are The World" which was written in a tree). It was where he took children who had cancer, who were dying, who were in wheel chairs and less unfortunate than most and just making them smile and laugh and have a great time. I don't think he did molest that 13 year old. I honestly think that family was looking for money. I'm still skeptical on his trial in 2005. I have never come to a firm decision on that.

I wish his family all my condolances, especially his children.

*double post*

I found this while doing a Yahoo! search. Thought it might be interesting.

LOS ANGELES -- Michael Jackson’s final rehearsal for his planned London concerts was recorded by state-of-the-art digital equipment and likely will be released soon as both an album and DVD, the Sun-Times has learned.
Initial discussions also are under way about U.S. and international broadcasts of the three-hour-plus rehearsal, held the night before Jackson’s death Thursday.

A source at AEG, promoter of the London concerts, said the program is unlikely to air until after a proposed tribute to Jackson in September that reportedly will involve such stars as Madonna, Diana Ross, Wyclef Jean, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder and Barbra Streisand.

AEG had no comment on the release of the rehearsal recordings.
A popular Hollywood entertainment industry Web site, TheWrap.com, quoted a separate source at AEG who, only hours after the King of Pop’s death, happily said, ‘‘We have a live album in the can.”

Now, as I'm sure we've all seen the video clip, do you really think that they'll release ALL of the production/dress rehearsals for the tour? If they do, it's going to be a CD/DVD set. As far as I know, they've only released the last minute of "They Don't Care About Us" to the public. Any more info is appreciated!

Controversial video but raises some good points if you think about it.

I was never really a fan and never got in to his music.

I'm feeling like ass right now, though. Realized how much of a bastard I am after hearing a bit of his music.

How can I redeem myself to a dead man?! How can I apologize to him now for the neglect my fucked up childish brain gave. I can't even listen to his music the same way, anymore. Earlier in the month? Just randomly getting pissed off when people play his music. I don't even know why, I guess I was just getting really fed up by everyone talking about him ALL THE TIME. But then, I still bump some of the stuff from the Notorious B.I.G. (died in 1997) so how in fuck is this any different?! How will I redeem myself, now? HOW?!!

Yes, yes, just get in too his music. Umm, kind of hard to do when you feel like you're faking any sort of pleasure given to his tracks.

I sure as hell can't say that I don't have any memories of him. Even a dirty, filthy hater like me has some fond memories. I remember hearing songs like "Will You Be There" and "Black and White" and "Scream". "Billie Jean" was THE first song I heard when I was playing GTA: Vice City. I remeber wondering if it really was Michael Jackson while playing it. I remember listening to Michael Jackson on the radio at night when they would play mixes of tracks.

Freaking Jermaine Jackson came in and said his brother was "not a child molester". You read that? How could I miss this?! Then focus on him going to jail, me judging as a little kid?

I swear. Just in my living room, watching some show on TV with the performances. I'm hearing one song from MJ... and I go nuts?! WTF?! Jesus, what in fuck is wrong with me?

R.I.P. Michael Jackson. Doesn't matter what I or any of these misguided fools say. You will always be remembered... ALWAYS! Believe that!!! :) A lot of musicians would still be living in the suburbs or whatever without your influence. What would become of breakdancing without you?!?

...

And fuck all the MJ haters. I'm not a fan, but most people who weren't fans seem to be sold on this "child molestation" thing. Seriously, man, grow the fuck up! How would you like it if I pissed on your mom's grave or someone you care about. How do you think his kids feel?

I guess I just didn't care enough. But, Michael Jackson, dying? Who'da thought that would happen?!?

And this was bumped...why?

Look, we all know the guy is six feet under, but let's not bring the shit up again. Hey, I'm a fan, but I don't think we need to be reminded of his death.
