The people that are bitching obviously have never had to live in a homeless shelter.

Thats retarded i'd be fucking PISSED
Ya homeless shelters are hell holes but that dosnt mean you find the most expensive condo you can find
you find or if necessary build a middle class style nice and safe but BASIC and CHEAP condominium for them
and they better be screening and have a VERY STRICT zero tolerance policy as far as drugs and prostitution
If I lived in a condo near that building i'd be fucking LIVID that would affect my resale value

The people who lived there probably have not lived in a homeless shelter but I'd be outraged if I lived near there, paid hard-worked money and yet people who are homeless got in for free in a place that is very luxurious.

I do find it surprising that this has been done. Honestly, I hadn't thought about home resale value. According to the article, the developer had to find something as a last-ditch effort, and leasing the building for homeless housing was the way to do it. I can understand the point of home resale value, but as a point of common humanity, I would prefer to see people (most of whom were probably on the other end of the spectrum just a year ago) have decent housing while they try to get back on their feet.
