Why does it seem that people try to push religion on you, They force you to believe something that we know nothing about, However people still believe that one religion is better than the other. And being Agnostic I find it frustrating when I try to tell someone that I am Agnostic since the definition of said religion is you know that a higher being exists however you don't know what you want to believe in yet.

People try to convert me on a day to day basis and I'm getting pretty damn sick of it....

Sorry, but that isn't the correct definition of an agnostic. Gnosticism deals with being "with knowledge" or "without knowledge". If you're without knowledge of any particular god then you certainly don't believe in a god actively, making you an atheist (I am an agnostic atheist etc.). "Higher beings" and such wishy-washy language (sorry, but it is) is more in line with a deist. If you believe in god, but don't prescribe to a particular religion, then you're a deist.

Oh and P.S.

Agnosticism is by no means a religion, it has no tenets, dogma, etc.

Agnostic

–noun
1.a person who holds that the existence of the ultimate cause, as God, and the essential nature of things are unknown and unknowable, or that human knowledge is limited to experience.

If you knowledge is limited to your experience, and you've had NO experience that you'd call "god" then you're an atheist. I understand why some people are "afraid" to call themselves an atheist, especially with the negative feedback in highly religious countries like the U.S.A.

I'm usually open to learning about something new even if it's not much interest to me at the time. However, if it gets forced upon me or shoved down my throat, then I'm not so friendly to it. If someone wishes to tell me about their beliefs without giving me the whole "GAHHH, join us or you'll DIE and SUFFER FOREVAAA" and similar stuff, then sure.

I'm not a fan of getting it forced to me but I try to see if the person will tell me about their beliefs in a more civil and peaceful way. If they continue with it after more than 2 or so attempts, then hell with it, I'm walking away.

My vote: no.

I voted 'yes', because if you ask a silly question you'll get a silly answer. It's like asking if you enjoy being verbally sodomized.

I'm glad that this poll has been made. One thing that I just can't stand are those arrogant and narrow-minded bigots who never know when to just shut up. Not only are those who do what they can to get you to believe in some unproved nonsence, but also those who are rude enough to simply assume that you follow a specfic deity. Well, what if oyu don't follow one? A concept that in an Utopia (an idealistic world), everybody would understand. Of course, we live in a corrupt and completely imperfect world and I have to say that religion seriously contributes to this. So no, I do not like religoin being force-fed to me.

Now now, it's the individuals, not their excuses we should blame. Plenty of religious people live completely fine, unbothersome lives. Blaming religion for the world we live in today is like blaming spoons for Rosie O'Donell's weight problem.

You seem rather rude, hypocritical, arrogant and not really understanding the difference between religion and science.

So religion is a large reason as to why the world is bad? So because the economy is not fairing very well, we should blame religion? Because some random kid with cancer died we should blame religion? Because of this "swine flu", we should blame religion? Well, glad we figured out why so many things are going wrong, it's simply due to religion!! :yeah: ... I hate to imagine what your idea of a perfect world would be.
