I was wondering, why people think that self harming is a solution(Maybe is a way to let stress out). I have my reasons, and it makes me feel better but the situation just get worse, I almost had 5 months till yesterday.

I stopped because one day I almost cut a vein, and my grandma took me to the hospital, and I learned a ''lesson'' but.. Am I the only one that self harm knowing that the situation is going to get worse?

How do you feel after doing it?

I don't think anyone is naive enough to think that self harm is an actual solution to the problems they are experiencing. It just makes things more bearable for a little while.

Yes, the situation does get worse but I don't think that is entirely down to the fact that someone self harms. Not tackling the root causes (i.e. depression, abusive relationships etc) and not using positive ways of dealing with them are probably greater factors.

for most people its just a way to let out stress and keep their feet on the ground another one is to make yourself feel and realize you are alive

It isn't a solution, it just makes life enjoyable for abit, like when you get drunk at a party and wake up after being used with a horrible hang over. It might feel bad later, but for the moment..

I do it and don't think it's a solution for anything I actully hate the fact that I do it because I hurt my friends =[ But the addiction is too strong for me to fight.

It's true, it is not a solution.. for me It's confusing and dificult to describe how It feels when I am doing it. Olim is right, I think is a way to let stress out.

Everyone knows it's not the real answer, however deeply they know that and however much the deny it. But it's temporary relief, and it's addictive, and very easy to fall into the habit of, because believe it or not, it works. I wouldn't reccommend cutting, no, NEVER get into the habit if you can. But it works for those who do it, it's just a bad way to cope, because you're just hurting yourself on the outside to kill the demon on the inside. (quoted from Girl, Interrupted)

The Physical pain that they cause themselves distracts them from the emotional pain. That's my thoughts on it.
