I would honestly go out and say "hey, I am going through changes, and now that I am not such a young boy anymore, i would appreciate it if you could give me a little more privacy." If that doesn't work, or you are just not comfortable about it, I would just use the bathroom or lock your bedroom door. If anyone asks you, just say that you had a bowel movement.

Your parents should understand.

just go up to them and say "mum, dad, i'd like to have more privacy as i am a teenager and every teenager needs their privacy" :D

Well when your doing something perfectly innocent, like reading or watching your tv, if someone comes in just say, hey dont you guys ever knock. They'll soon get the idea.

Yeah personally i wouldnt just outright ask them because they will either suspect you of doing something you shouldnt be, or they will accept it and do as you say. What i would do is i would just annoy them every time they come near your room, if ur on the net just say " the door was closed for a reason" or " do you mind im..." they'll get the hint soon enough...

I like that, maybe in a more polite sounding way.
I would feel funny going to them and asking for more privacy. I would feel like they knew what I was going to be doing in there.
I'm fortunate that my parents knock without my having to ask them.
