My father committed suicide and i fell apart. i was diagnosed with bipolar when i was 15 and i have very unhealthy coping skills when it comes to emotions. i read this at my dads funeral and i felt spiritually lifted up. if you can find that peace with yourself after losing a loved one, it is so emotionally filling. I am so sad but I am a strong believer in the good of life, and so I know now that he is not suffering. i just wanted to share my story to hopefully inspire at least one person to getting through their own loss.
"The greatest gift I ever had Came from God; I call him Dad."
Not how did he die, but how did he live?
Not what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not, what was his church, nor what was his creed?
But had he befriended those really in need?
Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer,
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say,
But how many were sorry when he passed away
A father carries pictures where his money used to be. Though we were never rich the love my dad expressed on a daily basis was more than enough for me. I didnt need materialistic things as long as at the end of the day I knew my father loved me and was proud of me- that was enough for me.Any man can be a father but it takes someone special to be a dad. "The greatest gift I ever had Came from God; I call him Dad." Dad, you're someone to look up to- no matter how tall I've grown, no matter how old I get you will always be there for me. You will always have a special place in my heart and, Dad, your guiding hand on my shoulder will remain with me forever.
Fathers Are Wonderful People
Fathers are wonderful people
too little understood,
And we do not sing their praises
as often as we should...
For, somehow, Father seems to be
the man who pays the bills,
While Mother binds up little hurts
and nurses all our ills...
And Father struggles daily
to live up to "his image"
As protector and provider
and "hero of the scrimmage"
And perhaps that is the reason
we sometimes get the notion
That Fathers are not subject
to the thing we call emotion,
But if you look inside Dad's heart,
where no one else can see,
You'll find he's sentimental
and as "soft" as he can be...
But he's so busy everyday
in the grueling race of life,
He leaves the sentimental stuff
to his children and his wife...
But Fathers are just wonderful
in a million different ways,
And they merit loving compliments
and accolades of praise,
For the only reason Dad aspires
to fortune and success
Is to make the family proud of him
and to bring them happiness...
And like our Heavenly Father,
he's a guardian and a guide,
Someone that we can count on
to be always on our side.
I will always be Daddy's little girl.
If you can tie your shoe, look both ways when crossing the street, eat your vegetables, learn to share...Thank Your Father.
I know your life on earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You weren't afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rain
Go rest high on that mountain
Son your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a-shoutin'
Love for the Father and the Son
Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your grave to grieve
Wish I could see the angels' faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing
Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a-shoutin'
Love for the Father and the Son
I love you Daddy, Much, Ever, Whole Wide World, More Than The World, Don't Let The Bed Bugs Bite. Goodnight. I love you.
There's nothing I could say to you
Nothing I could ever do to make you see
What you mean to me
All the pain, the tears I cried
Still you never said goodbye and now I know
How far you'd go
I know I let you down
But it's not like that now
This time I'll never let you go
I will be, all that you want
And get myself together
Cause you keep me from falling apart
All my life, I'll be with you forever
To get you through the day
And make everything okay
I thought that I had everything
I didn't know what life could bring
But now I see, honestly
You're the one thing I got right
The only one I let inside
Now I can breathe, cause you're here with me
And if I let you down
I'll turn it all around
Cause I would never let you go
I will be, all that you want
And get myself together
Cause you keep me from falling apart
All my life, I'll be with you forever
To get you through the day
And make everything okay
Cause without you I cant sleep
I'm not gonna ever, ever let you leave
You're all I've got, you're all I want
Yeah
And without you I don't know what I'd do
I can never, ever live a day without you
Here with me, do you see,
You're all I need
And I will be, all that you want
And get myself together
Cause you keep me from falling apart
All my life (my life), I'll be with you forever
To get you through the day
And make everything okay
I will be (I'll be), all that you want
And get myself together
Cause you keep me from falling apart
And all my life, you know I'll be with you forever
To get you through the day
And make everything okay
Dad I will miss you. But I'm going to wipe away my tears and make you damn proud, cause im too strong to let this go on. I will not quit. I will not let this ruin me. I will carry on your name, Sure I'll grieve, but I wont let it take over my life. You wouldnt want that, and I just want to make you proud and happy.
