I was on my iPod Touch last night. I decided to download an app called “sound grenade”. After I purchased it, nothing happened. I searched my iPod’s home screen but it didn’t show up. In anger, I rebooted it several time hoping that the app would show up. After the 4th time the “Connect to iTunes” screen showed up disabling everything.http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/3198/1059001.jpg
I connected my iPod to my laptop and an error message appeared in iTunes:

“iTunes could not connect to iPod ‘iPod’ because it is locked by a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPod before it can be used with iTunes.
Please Note
My iPod’s name is ‘Robbie Perales’s iPod’
I see no sense in attempting to enter a passcode when your iPod says to connect to iTunes only to see that you need to enter a passcode on your iPod to access iTunes
Any help would be appreciated

Force a factory restore within iTunes.
That'll reset your iTouch back to factory defaults, removing the password.
Bad thing is, you'll also lose all your music/videos/apps.

NONONO! all you need to do is unlock it before plugging it in. my friend has the same problem and we figured it out. He unlocked his ipod, then plugged it in and it was good to go. i just recommend taking the pass code off. save yourself from added hastle.

Yeah, his iTouch is bricked.
He can't access the unlock screen to unlock it!
He didn't have a passcode (From the sounds of the first post).
The app he installed placed a 'passcode' on there, then disabled the unlock screen.
He /needs/ to do a factory reset.
Oh, and as a general rule of thumb, don't download anything that has the word 'grenade' in it (Unless it's from a TRUSTED publisher). They tend to be malicious software(s).
(Oh hey look, another Apple product that isn't impervious to viruses! :O )

How do I reset it?
If I even attempt to access it to even restore it, I get the error messege in the second picture.

Try holding the home button for at least 10 seconds. before you connect it.
Does it appear in the source list?
-----------EDIT-----------
Glad you got it sorted out. :)
