I met this guy on facebook. But he's 31. Should I be with him?

You can talk to him but I wouldn't. I would only talk to people I have met face to face. Who knows what could be wrong with him. He could be safe but I wouldn't take that chance.

You're 18. You can do pretty much what you want.

Chatting as friends is perfectly fine. You have to decide for yourself if you would be ok with more though.
Think about the consequences.
Would you lose the support of friends/family over this? Would they welcome him? etc.

Do your friends and family know about him?
How did they react or how are they likely to react?

If they are likely to disown you or something along those lines then I would avoid this getting further into this particular relationship.

You're still a teen, I'd say no. That is a huge age gap for your age, and it's better to just be safe.

Fezzie, people come in different ages, and they have things to offer regardless of that age. However, if you're thinking 'romance', the age difference btw'n a 31 year old and an 18 year old really increases the probability of heart ache (for you as the younger, less experienced, more vulnerable one). Your needs are simply too different, it's a bad idea to have him as anything but a friend.

Well he's actually legal, so if it was consensual sex then there would be no legal problems.


I don't know, I'm already not a big fan of internet or long distance relationships in the first place, and the huge age gap just makes it worse for me. I don't think it'll work out well.
It may work, but remember, even if it's legal, it still might not always be safe.
