Basically you get an infraction when you do something serious against the rules, or if you have been warned multiple times about a smaller rule.
Infraction points add up until they expire after a certain time period. If you get 55 points, your account becomes restricted, where every post has to be approved. At 75 points, it is frozen for a few days. After 100 points, you are banned.

I think it would be a good idea to put them up in the FAQ or something, because even I didn't know what they were since we changed from like 10 points ban. My 25 points expire in like 2 weeks :)

If you get infracted, you are messaged by the mod or senior staff member that gave it to you and there is a tab above rep in your userCP where it says what it is for and how many points as well in your user profile it says a tab "infractions."

When you are given an infraction, the system generates a PM from the person who infracted you with the reason and the original post.

Yep, thats true.

When user is infracted a PM is automatically sent and a thread made in the mod forum.
