The fallout from Gordon Ramsay's sexist rant against A Current Affair host Tracy Grimshaw has gone global, including in his homeland.

British media have published reports about Ramsay's weekend rant at the Melbourne Good Food and Wine Show, in which he made foul comments about the Nine Network host's appearance and personal life.

His tirade has also been reported in the US and New Zealand - further tarnishing his public image following recent allegations that he indulged in a long-running extra-marital affair.

A day after being interviewed by Grimshaw, Ramsay told shocked food lovers in Melbourne the TV host was "a lesbian" and needed "to see Simon Cowell's Botox doctor".

He also showed a picture of a woman, who appeared naked on all fours, with multiple breasts and the facial features of a pig, saying: "That's Tracy Grimshaw."

Representatives for the chef, known for his foul mouth on his various TV series, said the comments were a joke, but Grimshaw hit back on her show, calling him an "arrogant narcissist" and a bully.

She also said his rant had upset her mum and that she had no interest in ever interviewing Ramsay again.

"Mum was upset for me, she was upset that someone would attack me like that so I thought, dammit, I'll have a bit of a crack back at him," Grimshaw said.

She said she did not expect an apology from Ramsay.

"I don't want one, I don't care - there's nothing more he can do to me now and he can't make it better," Grimshaw said.

"I'm not interested in speaking to the bloke again - I can't imagine any circumstances where I would want to interview him again."

Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard said Ramsay's tirade showed bad manners and bad taste.

"I understand from the publicity that Gordon Ramsay is a good chef," Ms Gillard said.

"I think perhaps what he should do is confine himself to the kitchen and make nice things for people to eat rather than make public comments about others."

Ramsay will be on the Gold Coast for the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show from Friday to Sunday.

In his native Britain, The Mirror sent up Ramsay in a report headlined: "Good thing Gordon Ramsay is such a sex god".

"Gordon is such a handsome devil, a veritable sex god come to Earth to live among men, you can understand why he might feel that mere mortals are unworthy of his presence," The Mirror report said.

The Mail Online also carried a report about the outburst and the angry reaction it had generated among audience members and women's groups.

Celebrity watcher Perez Hilton agreed, writing on his website that Ramsay, often in trouble for his mouth, had gone too far with his "sexist, homophobic remarks".

Other celebrity sites have also carried angry comments.

"Ramsay definitely went too far. He should be ostracised for this horrible unfair unwarranted attack on Tracey (sic)," wrote Georgie on the celebuzz site.

"I'll say it right now: Gordon Ramsay is worse than Hitler," wrote hispanicatthedisco on the same site.

Ramsay was also copping it on gay websites.

"Ramsay is just a little snot with no breeding or class ..." one site user wrote on samesame.com.au, which says it's Australia's number one gay and lesbian lifestyle site.

Another observed: "Gordon is quite unattractive - I think many people both gay and straight would agree with that fact."

Typical. Ramsey's pathetic anyway, just ignore him. He's like an angry and attention seeking child.

I found it hilarious when Grimshaw brought her mother into this . Quoting replies from random people's responses from some online site? I find that to be poor journalism. If you're going to quote someone, at least do it when you know their name as opposed to their online username.

If you see his other videos (plenty on youtube), he jokes quite a lot, although it's a shame that Grimshaw didn't find them funny. Of course, calling him a bully and arrogant narcissist isn't shining much good light on her.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has apologised for publicly insulting Australian current affairs presenter Tracy Grimshaw.

Ramsay has unreservedly apologised to Ms Grimshaw, a spokesman for the chef says.

The spokesman said the controversial British star realised his remarks at a Melbourne cooking show last weekend were "inappropriate and offensive".

"His comments relating to Tracy Grimshaw, who had interviewed Gordon the previous evening, were off the cuff and in response to heckling from the audience," he told Sky News in London.

"His intention was to make a joke and indeed he did raise a big laugh at the time.

"However, with hindsight he realises that his comments were inappropriate and offensive to Tracy Grimshaw.

"And he has unreservedly apologised both to her and anybody else who may who may have been upset."

Earlier, Ramsay had branded Grimshaw "sad" and "bitter" for defending herself after she used her A Current Affair program on Monday to take him to task over his weekend rant.

He denied calling the Nine Network veteran a lesbian while appearing at Melbourne's Good Food and Wine Show during which he also allegedly compared her to a pig, using an offensive photo as a prop.

Ramsay said he was "deeply mortified" that his intended joke had been blown out of proportion - and that was before Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said the chef's comments reflected a "new form of low life".

Mr Rudd's deputy Julia Gillard and Health Minister Nicola Roxon joined the fray, saying Ramsay should confine himself to the kitchen and stop abusing women.

Ramsay said he'd never used the word "lesbian" to describe Grimshaw, and said she was guilty of a "disgusting" attack on his wife Tana, who's due in Australia in two weeks.

On Monday, Grimshaw called Ramsay a bully and an "arrogant narcissist".

She said he'd made "uninformed insinuations" at the food show about her sexuality, and she told her viewers she was not gay.

The fallout from Ramsay's rant has gone global, spreading to the UK, US and New Zealand.

Britain's press seized on the story, particularly after Mr Rudd weighed in.

US celebrity watcher Perez Hilton said Ramsay had gone too far with his "sexist, homophobic remarks".
