They say the grass is greener on the other side,
But no matter where I stand
The grass I see is rotted and brown.
It points back toward the earth,
Not up toward the sky.
The grass, no matter what side I am on
Or what perspective I view it from,
Is symbolic of wasted years and my imminent downfall,
Not of any hope I might have or any untapped potential.
No, the grass needs water, the grass needs sunlight.
The grass needs care, the grass needs love.
But the grass is empty. It thirsts for more, but it gets none.
I am the grass. I am empty. I thirst for more. I get nothing.
The grass is greener on the other side.
I am greener on the other side.
There is no other side.
The grass is uncared for.
I am uncared for.
The grass is unloved.
I am unloved.
The grass is dead now,
It is not worth saving.
I am the grass.
I am dead.
I am not worth saving.
The grass is not greener on the other side.
I am not the grass.
The grass needs sunlight,
I can find my way in the dark.
The grass is empty.
I am filled to capacity.
The grass is dead. It has no potential.
I am alive, I can be somebody.
The grass is greener on the other side.
I am the other side.
But no matter where I stand
The grass I see is rotted and brown.
It points back toward the earth,
Not up toward the sky.
The grass, no matter what side I am on
