So, do guys in japan just go next to each other in the urinals? Because in America, there's like this, 'every other' rule, and I didn't know if it applied there. Though I'd ask, because I saw it in one of my favorite mangas. xD

So you guys just stand next to each other, even if there's open urinals?
Huh. Americans must be too one track minded to allow that to ever happen.

I don't live in Japan, but I went there for a summer.
But I think there isn't really the fear of your genitals being seen.

Again, I think it's just America that frowns on that.

It seems to be only homophobic teenagers that frown on that.
I know most adults (And adult-like teens) don't give two shits if someone goes to the urinal next to them. You're there to urinate, you assume the person next to you is there to urinate. No big deal there.

Actually, in my school there are a row of 4 urinals, and we all just don't care. We go next to eachother...its kinda necessary...
I don't think its homophobic teenagers. I think it is just American men that are insecure. Not homophobic. I think shy would even be a better term

Eh, homophobic was the only word that I could get to come into my mind.
But insecure/shy is what I ment. I just couldn't think of the word. :p

I agree. I have no problem, it's like, that's what you're there to do, but it's kind of ridiculous that men and teenagers can't get over their insecurities, just to take a piss...

Throughout history, the Japanese are seen to be of a "more lay back" mentality. In my opinion/view i see it as though in the "good old" USA we are all so close minded because we have so many mixes of people and, as seen in our history, "we" tend to not really trust others of different races. This then directly transfered to the modern generation because we continue to have a lack of trust with others.
I dont know if that made sense, but if it didnt, then basically, the Japanese, through history and personal experience, have shown to be a lot more accepting and lay back.
