Hey people, Will here with my 936th post, 74th started thread. Now, I think the Rep system works fine as it is, so don't think I'm opposing it, but wouldn't it be helpful or cool if there was a category or something that showed a ratio between how many rep points and how much posts a user has? For example, say I have 1000 posts, and 1000 rep points. That means I have a 1:1 ratio of Posts to Rep. This system would be helpful to users to see how often someone is repped, which usually translates to how often that user makes good quality posts. The higher the right side of the ratio, the more quality posts the user has made. For example, my ratio (as of now) would be 936:821, which in short is 1:0.877... This is achieved by dividing the number of rep points by the number of posts, and whalla. If this is created, I think it could work well on the Members List as another category, titled Rep Ratio or something along those lines.
Sorry if this is confusing, its hard to word ideas. Hope you like!

its not that accurate tho
like if someone has made 1 good post and 14 spam posts and they get repped by a person with like 15 rep power then its going to look liek theyve got 15 good posts when theyve noty so it would be ...yea

I don't know, honestly, it would just create more social hierarchy which is something we don't want. We should all be equally listened to really.

Ya, thats what I was worried about.... maybe if it only displayed people with over a certain amount of posts, so it was more refined. And Nick, who is that unmature to get cocky and create a hierarchy because of a ratio, it is intended to help new users or someone find someone that they can PM or such to answer their questions in good quality.

No one individually will be creating it, just by having it there will make a social hierarchy.
From what your saying, it's meant to show that SoAndSo has better posts then AndSoAnd because they have a higher ratio. It places people socially above or below others.
Also it's not necessarily true that a higher ratio=better posts; the rep system is often abused, and is often used for funny or nice posts instead of good info post. Plus, like said before, it is pretty inaccurate. Finally, you can always go to the member list and sort by reputation to find the people with the highest reputation.

my thoughts on this is that the rep system that is in place is adequate and no further expansions on it is necessary. your suggestion, will, would just result in people building on ego's and for some members in particular will make them think they are superior to others. the less complications with the rep system, the better in my opinion.

And that Ant probably couldn't code it......
Remember, there are limitations...

That does make that much sense to me because everybody can give you a different number of rep points.
I might give someone who has like 14 posts good rep and them BAM! Really high rep points.
Seems inaccurate to me and not worth it.

I don't think that this is really a good system. The first thing is I am not sure how we could create it or where we would put it. Someone would have to write the hack. Second thing is, I am not sure if it is really necessary. I think the rep blocks work fine for comparing who has rep. Finally, the rep system is nearing it's end. There are too many people on the top which kinda makes it unspecial now :P
