I'm a 14 and a 1/2 year old male who is not significantly, but still, overweight. I'm normally quiet and not very social in school and I don't hanging out places that much so I'm usually home and I find I like to snack a lot. Even when I'm not hungry. Some people in my school make fun of my weight and my somewhat social anxiety. I have tried to cut back on as much eating and I've even tried working out, but I can never find the motivation to keep on doing it. I even have a weight training as a PE class but whenever I ask my fit partner to motivate me, he's just spiteful about it. Sometimes, when I try to control my eating, I find that I'm not hungry for breakfast, for example, but I can't skip breakfast! I want to lose weight not just to not become such a target at school, but it's unhealthy and I don't want to worry about being obese. Please help! What should I do?

Weight loss is really about a lifestyle change, so it's a pretty big deal. So, you need lots of motivation and patience, it takes a while to change old habits and adopt new ones. Others can help by being supportive (and as Truth says, by offering specific assistance, like a dietician), but the bilk of the work has to come from YOU.
That means finding a sensible diet and sticking with it for some time, and adding a reasonable exercise program. Donlt expect overnight miracles, it will take some time to see results. Don't get discouraged, stay with it, and be patient.

Hi,
I'm curious about what you think. Do we eat more than we used to and, if so, why? Is overeating the major contributor to obesity or do you think there are other, more important factors? Leave a comment and tell us what you think about the causes of obesity.
thanks!

I'd recommend that you set yourself goals. Do you realise that the less you snack, the more your stomach will get used to not having the snacks and may even shrink inside a little - therefore making you fuller quicker. I'm at home a lot and I tend to snack a lot too.. I guess it happens to a lot of us - don't give up.. keep trying! :-)
