I really think i need to stop but i can;t. I have no one to talk about it to except my best friend + brother who is a heroin addict so it's hard to talk to him about getting off things. How can i just stop!

It is a good thing that you are trying to end this ASAP. Just having the desire to do so will help. As long as there is a will, there is a way!

If things ever seem really complicated, just take a huge pause, step back, and look at everything and the options you have so that you can make the best one.
I hope this works out for you!

well, i'm a cutter trying to quit right now.. i'm up to 3 days without cutting. i found what really helps for me is surrounding yourself with people who care and don't want to see you die. another tip i use to help when i have the urgew to cut is to snap a hair tie or a rubberband against your wrist. it does actually help. just not to hard or too much to were you get a bruise. but for the most part... if you need someone to talk to, please, don't be afriad to pm me. i'm dedicating a portion of my life to helpping other cutters like myself quit.

its been 16 days for me, as the numbers of not SI i feel alot better about myself.
Keep yourself busy, getting out of the house totally takes the urge away for me(:
good luck! and like bri- said keep yourself around people that care it actually worked out for me... they told me how they felt when i SI it made me feel really guilty.

Go to the mall or somewhere in public. You won't be tempted to do it there!

I quit cutting a while back.
Mostly because of my boyfriend and friends.
When I told them, they got really upset.
So I found it really selfish of me to cut myself.
I'm thinking only about myself and not what it does to other people.
Slowly, I started to focus on the good in life and stopped cutting.

You really want to know how to 'quit'?

GROW A PAIR, OPEN YOUR EYES AND REALIZE WHAT YOU'RE DOING IS STUPID AND THE ONLY REASON YOU'RE DOING IT IS BECAUSE YOU WANT YOUR FRIENDS TO THINK YOU'RE COOL.

Okay like everyone else has said, well nearly everyone. A weekly counselling session can be helpful but not all methods are helpful for all.
A few things could be to hold ice in your hand until it melts, throw ice on hard surfaces to see it break and feel the thoughts that go through your head when you destroy something, it could help :)
Also try and open up to your best friend, and if your angry or need to vent, (which can stop you from cutting) then go to them about it and ask them about it.

Thinking about getting help is the first step on a long road to recovery, but at the end it is all so worth the effort. So you are a small step in but you can and will make it! :)
Also shelbangs is not correct. There are many reasons why we cut and this is not the only reason, this is often the rarest reason why people cut, because we hide it , it is not done to feel cool. And a lot of depressed lonely people do it just to cope with what this life throws at them, so be careful what you say, especially in the cutting and self harm section!

ya know i relly hate it when people come to these sites for help and people like shelb angs come on here and critize the people seeking help... you have no idea what these people go threw so leave them alone and stop posting stuff like that
