so....i'm kinda new here but i've bin reading all the posts u write 2 eachother nd they all sound really supportive so i wos wondering if u could help.
i've started SIing recently nd although i've bin reading all the distractions 2 stop u doing it (theyre really helpful:D) but i just need help not THINKING bout it 24/7.
my exams start tomorrow nd im just worried its all i'll b thinking bout.
dus any1 know anything that could help?

Um, focus on your exams? Get a song (not one that makes you think about SI) stuck in your head. Don't bring anything that you could use for SI with you when you go to your exams. Draw, write, read... sometimes playing instruments (guitar, piano, ect...) can help, but you can't do that in school. Think about how other people are doing on their exams. Think about stuff that makes you happy. Make a mental (or written) list of all the good things in life. Hope some of those help. ;)

well, i know what works for me is listening to music. anything really. i know that people say not loud obnoxious stuff but i find that that type of music helps the most. also, another stratgey that i would swear on is snapping a hair tie or rubberband against your wrist. that's helped me a ton. i wear at least 2 hair ties and 1 rubberband on my wrist a day. pm me if you need help i tend to be very supportive.

its in my head alot but i just need to keep myself busy.
it has ben 16 days, and the urge isnt as much as it used to be. i just tell myself i cant go back to the hospital again.
study for your exams. you wont want to cut if you see that you did really good. you will feel proud!

i guess just talking about it must help.
nd i like the song thing- but i have 2 change it everyday or it just gets old....

Well done on the not cutting and i hope that your exams went well, if you still need other methods you could try drawing on your arm? like a smiley face etc. etc.
You could also just write about a hobby in your free time, and therefore will take your mind off of it, and it will challenge your mind to think more about the hobby so that you can write more. I managed to write 4 a4 pages on one of my hobbies :) although that was for an exam. and it took me about an hour, so if you want something to do, there it is :)

when you'r thinking about self harming do something you like doing for fun;

go for a walk
read a book
watch a film (comedy)
watch some tv
go online
read a magazine
go out with your mates
have a munch
etc etc..
