Well the microphone still doesnt work but thanks to everyone that tried. Unfortunately, i have a bigger more annoying problem.

It happened sometime yesterday night . . i just went to my pc (im on my laptop now) and tried to start my game but it couldnt connect. I tried to start trillian, it couldnt connect. I tried to start mozilla . . .Couldnt connect. And last of all, i tried internet explorer, it couldnt connect. On the bottom right it saids that there is a connection of 11mpbs with an OK connection )about 60 percent since im in a different room, but it has always been like this)

So now im screwed and have no clue what to do . . nothing on the internet works HOWEVER if i go into the COMMAND-PROMPT and type in ''ping www.yahoo.com'' or ''ping atlantic.uwo.com'' (<--game server) then i will get a ping back . . so confused ..how can i not connect if well..i am connected. When is tart my interneet i dont immediatley get the ''This page cannot be displayed'' I get a white screen for about 10 minutes THEN i get that.. hmph :(

Yes, that looks like a DNS problem... But it could also be a firewall/router. Some firewalls have an option to block http and messenger ports, and good routers always have options open like that. Did you install or change anything recently?

I indeed have a firewall. It asks me EVERY time if i want to allow it, block it, or always alow it or always block it . . . i pretty much allow everything that i use day to day. I turned it off and tried it and i turned it on allow all mode and tried it no difference....let met try that dns thing :>...

Nope no difference.

And to answer your question Kiros, no i havent done anything. I let my step bro go on the pc to play his little runescape game ..i was in the room the whole time and he is too stupid to know how to do anything else but i did tell him it was running really slow (and it does on the weekends for some reason, REALLY slow...) so he might of fucked something up ...

DNS didnt change anything and i tried all three . . Any possibility that it is a virus?

It really doesn't sound like a virus that I know, but I don't know a lot of them... You might want to try a virus scan. Also, if nothing else, try completely disabling the firewall (permanently) and restarting your computer. Keep the firewall down and try to access the internet. If that doesn't work, raise the firewall back up for your protection. Try going in Internet Explorer, Tools >> Internet Options... >> Connections (tab) >> LAN Settings... Now see if "Use a proxy server for your LAN..." is checked - if it is, uncheck it. Also, while your there, try checking the box that says "Automatically detect settings". Restart your computer, and see how it goes.

Nope. All settings were already as is when i went into IE options . . . i set the firewall to not start on startup and restarted but no difference has occured.

start your computer in safe mode with networking and see if it works
