hiya Chris,

Maybe it would be best for you to ask permission to go hang out with a friend for a while, at least you wouldn't be there. Unless you're in imminient danger (which it doesn't sound like), I wouldn't recommend you call the Authorities here, it will only inflame the situation, whiuch wouldn't be a good thing.

Obviously something happened btw'n your folks, and there's some tension. That doesn't mean they're splitting up, it just means that there's *stuff* there that they need to address. Until that happens, try not to jump to conclusions, and keep a low profile.

I would just ask permission to get out of the house and remove yourself from what seems like quite a stressful situation for you, maybe go for a walk, call on some friends etc

Also, just to add that Childline is a free number, so you don't have to worry about having enough credit on your phone. Maybe you could talk outside or in the bathroom or something so your stepdad won't hear?

First of all before you call any authority you need to actually think if you are being abused, is he shouting at you all the time or just today after the argument with your mum.

I am not condoning him shouting at you for any reason but when a person gets angry/ upset they will take it out on whoever is closer which may be you.

As a side note, if your in the UK child line is a free number, so you wont need credit and they will offer advice on any matter.
