View Full Version : Crying in the night

There was a time when in the night
I'd wake and hear a sound,
a sound of sobbing and of tears
a man in sorrow drowned.

To hear a little baby cry,
or frightened child, is sad,
but how much worse it is to hear
your softly crying dad.

Where was my mother then you ask
could she not aid his plight?
She'd gone again, Christ knows where,
she'd not be back that night.

"Please God make it stop" I prayed
"its driving me insane,
dear God I shouldn't have to hear
my crying father's pain".

My mother left five years ago
in truth it made me glad.
I'd had enough of all the lies
and cheating on my dad.

My younger sister loves her still
to me she could be dead.
Dad sleeps again in silence now
(I'm crying now instead).

I sense that the background of this poem isn't the nicest :(, but still a good poem Nick, well written and full of emotion.

Nick... while the background to that is obviously terrible, it is still another great poem...
I find myself relating to parts of this too, and it does remind me of my father to some extent.
Well done Nick
